The world has had a similar crisis that could parallel the refugee crisis that is currently occurring. During the Holocaust, we denied any refugees seeking help which resulted in the massacre of the Jewish population living in Germany. The United States is currently having a debate on whether we should take in 10,000 Syrian refugees.

During the Holocaust that was going on in Germany, we denied any refugees seeking help which resulted in the massacre of the Jewish population living in Germany. I am a 16 year old student at Antelope High School by the name of Chelsey Truc Le and I support the decision to take in Syrian refugees. We are a country that helps others when it is needed and helping the refugees will only save the people who are in desperate need for our help. I agree with the lawmakers decision to help a limited amount of Syrian refugees being that it will improve their situation. Currently in Syria, there is a civil war that is occurring which is destroying the infrastructure. The rebels, with the aid of the USA, are trying to take down the Syrian government which is currently backed up by Russia. The citizens living through the war are in desperate need of basic necessities such as water and food. Many people are dying from violence itself and the other portion of people are dying due to the lack of access to crucial necessities. The United States is currently having a debate on whether we should take in 10,000 Syrian refugees. The public and other government officials disagree with this decision due to the terrorist group, ISIS, that may be planted in the operation to infiltrate and harm civilians. Most people are afraid of the risks of taking in the refugees but do not consider their suffering and that most of the people in need are the Muslims who only need relief from the war. ISIS not only wants to control the government, but also wants us to turn our back on the Muslims which is precisely what is happening. A similar event has occurred during the event of World War II. We sent the Jewish people back to Germany which resulted in their inevitable death. Similar events that have already occurred in history must not be ignored and should bring this topic into further debate. Although the Jewish people back then did not have a conspiracy to attack innocent civilians like the Syrian refugees today could, our screening process is very long. Most of the refugees are orphans, widows, and families in desperate need of help. Similarly, they are also trying to flee the country in hopes of starting a new life just like the Jewish people did. If we deny aid to the people of Syria, we are only guaranteeing their inevitable death that will occur if we do not take action. I agree with Obamas decision to help Syrian refugees. Weve always had a reputation of helping other when in need and when we turned our backs on people who did, we regretted it. The Syrian conflict we are currently having has an eerie resemblance to the time when the Jewish people desperately needed our help. We have made mistakes before but we must fix them in order to learn from them. I would like you to consider supporting the decision to take in 10,000 Syrian refugees since it well help the greater good. Not only support the decision but also take in some of the refugees as well. Most states have denied the refugees to come to their state and the more we take in, the more we can help. I would like to again, emphasize that it is crucial that you support the decision to help the people of Syria who need our aid. Thank you for your time. 4635 Elverta Road, Antelope, CA 95843
