Standard #8: Instructional Strategies

The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage learners to
develop deep understanding of content areas and their connections, and to build skills to apply
knowledge in meaningful ways.

Brief Description: In the following assignment, I will be

providing vivid detail and information regarding special
education. I will provide examples and valuable information to
parents to broaden their understanding on the subject.
Rationale: Standard 8 goes along with this assignment because
through this presentation, I am instructing the parents by
visually presenting to them information that would be beneficial
to know in special education. I will do it in a meaningful way,
connecting with them in order for them to help provide support
to their child who may have special needs.

Reflection
Working in education, I have found that these are the most
important key elements that the parents of children with
special needs should be aware of. It is also extremely
important to know your childs rights and your own in
regards to special education. All parents/guardians of
Special Ed students should be aware of these programs and
laws to help better support their childs needs. Parents
should definitely feel supported by the schooling system
their child is in. This is why I chose to share my own
personal information at the end of the presentation to keep
the line of communication open in my community.
