Lesson Overview/
Rationale
Mathematics
Four Weeks of 30 Minute Periods
Students will have the ability to interpret products or
whole numbers and use multiplication and divisions
within 100 confidently. Students will be able to
incorporate the multiplication and division skills they
learn in their everyday life. They will also learn how to
make a movie, using moviemaker with a group of
students, in order to explain how they can use the main
points of the lesson plan in day-to-day activities.
Michigan Common Core State Standards for Mathematics:
Kindergarten (Operations and Algebraic Thinking)
1. Interpret products of whole numbers.
2. Interpret whole- number quotients of whole
numbers.
3. Use multiplication and division within 100 to solve
word problems in situations involving equal groups,
arrays, and measurements quantities.
4. Determine the unknown whole number in a
multiplication or division equation relating three
whole numbers.

3 Points
The students have
an understanding
and they all have
done their fair share
in the project. Each
has turned in their
own contribution to
the assignment.(Ex:
Brainstorming ideas,
thoughts, notes,
outlines.)
3 Points
Students followed
the tutorial the
teacher provided
and were capable of
producing an
excellent video
confidently with
visual arts and a
well thought out
sequence.
3 Points
Students have given
exemplary examples
about multiplication
and division in
everyday situations.
(Ex: Dividing a
dozen cupcakes at a
party with 6 friends,
figuring out how
many friends to
drinks they may
need, etc.) Students
have truly grasped
the objectives of the
lesson.

2 Points
The students
have done the
assignment and
seem to have an
understanding
but did not turn in
their own
contribution to
the assignment,
only 2 out of the
group.
2 Points
Students followed
the tutorial but
lacked the visual
aspect or did not
have a sequence
to the video. The
video was all over
the place.
0 Points
None of the
students seem
to have an
understanding
for the material
and have not
turned in any of
their
contribution to
the
assignment.
O Points
Students did
not follow the
tutorial and did
not provide a
video.
2 Points
Students have
given poor
examples to
support how
multiplication and
division is used in
everyday
situations.
Students seem
unsure about the
objectives of the
lesson, they are
not entirely
confident.
O Points
Students have
not given any
examples, or
seem to have
no
understanding
of the
objectives in
the lesson.
