1. Outcome: MA12.1- Students will identify and depict different forms

of function families, reproducing their characteristics such as
continuity, family, and critical points from memory. Students will
show mastery through making predictions about features of
equations
a. Real Life Skill 1: Understanding changes in environments
where data is collected, such as market crashes, effects of
disease and vaccines on population, etc.
b. Real Life Skill 2: Student ability to use graphical and
mathematical skills to track self-improvement, and integrate
into daily tasks.
2. Assessment Types:
a. Real Life Skill 1: Students will examine population, market, or
production graphs for critical points, discontinuity and future
performance, being careful to focus on features, not equation
variables. Students will be interviewed by the instructor and asked a
series of questions regarding their assessment, and what they learned
from history or research that contributed to the changes in their graph.
b. Real Life Skill 2: Students will chart a time-sensitive part of their life
for a week, and be charged with analyzing their results for critical
points, the meaning of critical points, and the function family their
graph belongs to. Students will produce an analysis of their progress
using these criteria, and will turn it in to the instructor at the end of the
week, interpreting their progress and commenting on how they could
use such tools for their own betterment.
3. Grading
a. Real Life Skill 1: A scoring checklist will be used for this interview.

b. Real Life Skill 2: Real life skill 2 will be graded by rubric, focusing on
student ability to effectively track their own habits and thoroughly
analyze their own behavior honestly.
