UNIT/THEME:Nitroball FOCUS: Rules and pretest
LESSON # 1

STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES (SPO):
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1) Psychomotor Demonstrate proper use of nitroball skills by using at least 2 different nitroball
skills during the pretest. MACF 2.17 SHAPE 1
2) Cognitive Identify at least three different nitroball rules by the end of class.. MACF 2.17 SHAPE

3) Affective Behave in a safe, appropriate way without being asked to change behavior for the
entire class period. MACF 2.19 SHAPE 4

TEACHER PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 1: The teacher will be walking around the room giving as much verbal feedback on the rules that were just
covered in the introduction.

Lesson Sequence

Entering the gym: Students will enter


the gym, change (if needed), then sit on
the bleachers on the side of the gym for
attendance.
Introduction
The teacher will do a short intro on
what we will be covering in class
toady. The teacher will have a projector
on the wall for students to also have a
visual for the daily objectives / plan.
Today, students will be learning the
rules / objectives of Nitroball.
Warm up: The teacher will explain the
warm up in the introduction. The
students will break off into their groups
to complete the warm up. Students will
do a quick dynamic warm up with the
following exercises:
Hamstring stretch
Quad stretch
Side lunge
Big arm circles
After this, students will make a circle
with their team. Students will begin
passing around the circle to any student
they see using only the underhand pass
(bump). The teacher will be walking
around, cueing students on when to do
a different type of pass. The teacher
will ask students to do the following
types of passes:
Underhand pass
Overhead pass
Inverted ground pass
Activity One gameplay pretest
After students have gotten the rules and
a proper warm up, students will be split
into their teams and put straight into a
gameplay setting. The teacher will

organize two courts with 2 teams on


each court. Depending on the number
of teams in a specific class, teams that
are not playing will be reefing the
game.
Assessment: The teacher will be using
this time to assess the students current
skills in the game of handball. The
teacher will be looking for passing,
catching, shooting, and defending
skills.
Accommodations:
Ell students will be placed grouped
with another student who speaks their
language or a student who has good
leadership skills.
Students that are injured will be given
or cannot participate for various
reasons given work to do on their own.
Healthy students will be given active
activities to do, whereas students who
are injured will be given
responsibilities with the rest of class.

The teacher will close the class by
asking students the following
questions:

Nitroball they learned today
What do you think are some of
the basic skills that are needed
in nitroball?
What are some different skills
you hope to learn in out
nitroball unit?
