Malcolm X Learning to Read Questions for Discussion and Journaling


1. Malcolm X is sharing his opinions with people who have the
same political views as him.
2. Malcolm X defines literacy as learning from reading and writing
texts and then being able to teach it to others. The definition also
applies to the school systems definition.
3. Malcolm Xs sponsors were, his teacher telling him he couldnt
become a lawyer because of his race, his conversion to Islam,
and Elijah Muhammad. The motivation of these sponsors was to
spread their beliefs.
4. Malcolm X did not misappropriate his sponsors because he

writing.
7. Malcolm X shows writing as a way of learning. Malcolm X
wanted to read in order to learn more. Reading has helped me
learn new words and expand my imagination.
