Thanks to all who came out to our March meeting. The topic of the meeting was how to pot (or re-pot)
your orchids. Nancy Burke started off meeting with a brief talk about her recent trip to Florida and some
of the orchid societies she visited there. Her talk was very informative and fun. Those of you that were
not at the meeting, missed out on learning about a man in Florida, Dusty Crum, who owns an orchid shop
called Orchid Envy and hunts invasive pythons on the side! (Check out the website of Orchid Envy
and/or the Venice Area Orchid Society. If you would like to learn more:
https://www.facebook.com/orchidenvy/photos/pcb.889015011166831/889014584500207/?type=3)The
meeting then turned into a potting party. It was a lot of fun and we all learned something about repotting
and/or dividing our orchids. Our members Andy Fontaine, Nancy Burke and John Rogan demonstrated
dividing and repotting techniques and helped our members in repotting the plants they had brought in
from home. Sandpiper supplied the repotting tools, pots and potting media for everyone.
For those that missed the meeting or, if you would like to learn more, the AOS has some free, informative
videos you can watch. Here are the links:

This year, Christy wont be able to join us. She is trying to arrange a behind the scenes tour with another
park employee. So well call that yet to be determined. This is your event. In order to be successful, we
need to have a good turnout. Bring your family and friends as well as a dish to share: Salads, baked
beans, desserts, chips, etc.; non-alcoholic beverages for yourselves; folding chairs for your own comfort;
if you want something cooked other than hamburgers and hot dogs, bring it with you and we will cook
them on the grill for you.
Please let Lana Errickson (billlana@gmail.com or 856-825-3644) know how many will be in your party
and what you and/or your guests will be bringing. Hope to see you all there! THANKS!!!
