Building Coalitions- Mobilizing Partners

Use this Stakeholder Wheel to think through important stakeholders for your health topic. Follow
the instructions on Assignment #1 to identify needed stakeholders.
Sector Definitions:
Government Sector- Any local, state, national agency funded by public funds.
Health Related Sector- Public or private health agencies, organizations, individual
practitioners (hospitals, insurance, nursing associations, local clinics, nursing homes, senior
health care agencies, etc.
Non-health Related Sector- Social or community service agencies, organizations, e.g,
YMCA, Boys/Girls clubs, Sport clubs, drug treatment services, advocacy organizations for a
target population (e.g., Blind, hearing impaired, etc.)
Community/Grass Roots Sector- Smaller agencies/organizations like PTA, Parent sports
groups, youth tobacco prevention, local recovery groups, AA, also the faith community and
local organizations (Lions, Rotary, etc.)
Private- Individuals in business, local businesses (Safeway) or regional, state, national
private businesses or organizations like the Chamber of Commerce, Insurance organizations,
etc.
Definitions:. Core- people you need on an advisory group. Involved- those who would attend
meetings of the group. Supportive- partners may attend meetings or have provided some form
of support (e.g. knowledge, financial, consultation); Peripheral partners are those who are kept
informed through emails and newsletters.
