Graduated Difficulty Reflection

TAG Strategies Course

This strategy is perfect for my TAG math classes! These students, who love a
challenge, had fun trying to reach the highest level. It was so fun to hear the
determination and frustration as the students strived to get the correct answer. The
way I structured it was perfect after filling out the DECIDE sheet and determining
their level, they had to pass that level before moving onto the next. I only had one
student who started at the highest level (E), but I believe that was an appropriate
choice. It had some math skills that are not covered in our curriculum. This was a
great way to introduce new knowledge, because as the levels got higher, the
students had to apply prior skills (from level A, B, and C) to figure out the more
challenging problems. I can see myself using this strategy a lot for all my math
classes.
