Artifact Title: Training Agreement
Artifact Summary
This class was one of three classes through the University of Northern Iowa that I needed to
obtain my multi-occupational program endorsement. The Training Agreement is tool that was
developed specifically for the cooperative education program at Expo Alternative High School
where I teach business education. The Training Agreement outlines the responsibilities of all
stakeholders that would be involved with the student. The stakeholders include: student,
employer/training supervisor, teacher/coordinator and parent/guardian.
Course Outcomes
Develop a comprehensive work-based learning program for developing work skills and
work behaviors.
Develop a training agreement directing all aspects of work-based learning.
Develop a training plan to direct occupational skill development at a work-based learning
site.
Implement related classroom instruction utilizing resources available via internet and
other sources.
Evaluate students and work-based learning sites for program improvement
and reporting.
Establish personal plans for transition into work and/or post-secondary training.
Network with other coordinators in Iowa for support.
Establish ideas for incorporating cooperative education into school improvement
planning.
Impact on Present Teaching
The Multi-occupational endorsement I received has been my passion from the onset of my career
in education. Completing my endorsement qualified me to be the first teacher at Expo
Alternative to bring Cooperative Education to my building. My action research service learning
project was part of my Cooperative Education class. The coursework that I learned from the
Coordinating Teaching Career and Technical Programming class at UNI was foundational in the
lesson plans in my cooperative education classes I currently teach. The training agreement is a
document that is part of the orientation paperwork that is filled out with me in order for the
student to be part of my program. The Training Agreement details what the expectations are for
all stakeholders that are part of the students training placement. The action research project has
put a breath of fresh air into the way that I will approach my cooperative education classes and

curriculum. The action research project has given new insights to measuring growth and
competencies with the tools that I already have in place in co-op program.
Impact for Future Teaching
Will continue to use the Training Agreement as part of the orientation in my Cooperative
Education Program.
I will continue to use the methodology of how to measure growth that I have attained
when implementing my action research project.
I am determined to explore new avenues to teach students employability skills within the
confines of the classroom and school day.
I want to improve my program to assist students in Citizenship, Financial Literacy and
Career exploration
