Where and how have I developed this

skill?

Whilst studying at Shipley college I have been in a

situation where I was an effective member of a
team to achieve a successful outcome, this was
once achieved with a few other students from
Shipley college we took on a role of becoming event
managers for a day. This role included being the
host speaker of the event (Bradford Pathways
event) during this event we had to speak in front of
100+ visitors from all across Bradford schools.
Also with the help of Shipley college I was taken on
by a local company called Incommunities to do a
15wk placement on the Policy, Performance and
Involvement Team working in an office based
environment this gave me the feel of what work life
is like on a day to day basis.

When working as I team I do try to contribute

my ideas and get with the other members of
the group. I do become quite shy as I need to
open up more when it comes to working and
talking to others. I listen to others ideas and as
a team we try to contribute and expand on
each others ideas.
When working as a time I think I become a
more quite person as I find it hard to talk out
thinking that whatever I might say is wrong and
the rest of the group may not agree with what I
have said.
Whilst preparing for the Bradford Pathways
event as we were designated at the hosts of
the evening and doing a short introduction on
each speaker that was about to come onto
stage. Before the whole event me and another
college student sat down and wrote the whole
script for the evening. Once we had done that
we had gone into the main hall and one by one
we had read out our part of the script and we
were given feedback on each other weather we
had to slow down or speak louder.
Whilst on placement at Incommunities I had to
go to an evening awards event after that event
had took place I had to write up a report and fill
out a questionnaire whilst writing that report I
was not sure what I had to write, by doing this I
got experience on how to write a report as I
had other members help me write it as it was
my first time writing a report.

I am not that confident when it comes to

writing reports as I lack in some parts of how
the report should be laid out and what style
should be used to make it look professional.

When it comes to communication and talking

in front of people I dont actually have the
confidence as I feel shy when I have to talk in
front of the class. But this has slightly changed
since I hosted an event it boosted my
confidence up.
Depending on what the situation it is that I am
talking about will depend on what ways I am
able to explain my ideas as I have said before I
am not a very confidant when it comes to
expressing me.
When it comes to construct arguments this
reminds me of a debate and it would involve
others to help and participate in their opinion
on what they think so I would be quite
confidant it this was to happen.
Where and how have I developed this
skill?
As part of Shipley college I and a few other
students have become the Leadership Team
of Shipley college. Being part of this me and
the other students had to make a PowerPoint
and represent it to other students in college.
I was able to do this when presenting the
Leadership team PowerPoint to other members
of the college.

the whole festival this project is a big project as
many people from around the UK will be in
contact with us.

Whilst working at Incommunities I was able to work
on the tasks that were given to me at first I was
getting supervised to make sure that what I was
doing was right but after a few days I was able to

work unsupervised as I was on task and understood

what needed to be done.

with telephone calls of customer complaints as well
as tracking them and keeping up to date with the
tasks that needed doing.

process different data this would include using

being one of Leaders of the Leadership team
this is when we are managing other courses

This experience was when I had done the
Bradford Pathways to Prosperity project. Me
and another student from college had written

As part of the Saltaire Arts Trail we are using

Excel to keep a database and tack each
postcard that we receive.
At Incommunities I had used email and the
internet quite a lot emails were used when I
had send out customers emails regarding what
is happening with their complaint as some
customers would prefer and email instead of a
phone call to let them know what
Incommunities were doing to help them.

Whilst working at Incommunities I used the
photocopier as well as printer to print out letter
for customers that needed to be sent and also
the photocopier function to photocopy several
of things.
I used online databases such as collect the
database for a recent survey that
Incommunities had sent out so with this I would
go onto the website and research the database
that was needed and look at what was
happening with the surgery and the
progression of it.

I dont think I would cope very well when it
comes to identifying and clarifying a problem
as I have not experienced this before so it
would be something new for me to experience.
I may be able to identify it but do describe the
problem I would find hard as I dont know much
about it.

I have set quite a few goals for my future
depending of what I want to achieve out of uni
as I am not 100% sure what I want to study at

Through the CofE4b we have staff from Shipley

college who come to us to help us create a CV
