For both assessments we compiled data from two Pre AP U.S.

History classes
consisting of 56 total students. The results for the anticipation guide were
strikingly similar to the citizenship assessment, as we saw growth in nearly
every students responses. Unlike the citizenship assessment, none of the
students received a perfect score on their pre-assessment portion, so
statistically every student showed growth. Below is the data collected into 5
graphs and 3 different groups. The first chart details each individual
students scores on their pre and post assessments. While looking at all the
students individually you can see that only 4 students scored over a 6 on the
pretest. However, if you look at the post test data youll see that only 5 of
the 56 scored less than a 6 earning them a C on the assessment.

The Second Chart Details the scores taken only from the period 4 burgundy
class. 4B is a smaller class than 5b and earned better scores on their
citizenship assessment, but the anticipation guide assessment saw 4B
scoring slightly below 5B in terms of less perfect scores, but they had less
students scoring below the B range. In total, 4B saw 10 perfect scores with
all but 2 students scoring in the B range. The growth for 4B is drastic, as the
pre-test data saw only 2 students passing in the B range, so 22 students
improved their grade to a passing level.

The third chart is showing the scores taken only from the 5th period burgundy
class. 5B is the larger of two classes, and as such there was a number of
more students scoring below the B range for the post test. Despite the
numerous students below B range, the 5B class had 11 perfect scores
putting them at more overall perfect scores than 4B. In terms of their
students below the B range, 5B saw 8 students receiving a C or below on
their post test. However, the class went from 3 in the B range to 22, seeing a
19 person growth in the B or above range.

The 4th chart details the data recorded from male students that comprised
both 4th and 5th period burgundy classes. Much like the data from the
citizenship assessment, the males of 4th and 5th period burgundy scored less
on the pre and post assessment. For the pretest, only 1 student scored in the
B range with 31 students receiving a 6 or below. However, the post test
showed only 7 students below the B range with 24 students accomplishing
growth enough to reach them into a B range. The post test saw 8 students
receive a perfect score, but their female peers had a higher number of
perfect scores and a higher ratio of B range scorers.

The 5th chart details the data recorded from only Female students that
comprised both 4th and 5th period burgundy classes. In general, the female
students from 4th and 5th period scored better than their male peers. The
pretest data for the males and females was similar as only 4 females score in
the B range, only 3 more than their peers. The post test, however, is where
the discrepancies between male and female students appears. The post test
data shows 14 students receiving perfect scores with only 4 students
receiving less than a B. All in all, the female students saw an increase of 18
students reaching the B or above grade range.

The success for the 4B and Female groups can have tracked to a number of
different aspects, but the biggest few that stand out are their population and
the time of their class in the day. The 4B group is a smaller class, and the
Female group of students has 8 less people, so there were fewer people
allotting for lower grades due to this factor. The success of 4B can also be
traced to the time that class meets, which is at 11:10 right before lunch. Due
to this time, the class is awake enough to participate, but not hyper from
their activity and food from lunchtime. However, some external factors such
snow days, schedule differences, or sports activities could also play into the
score discrepancy between the 2 clusters.
