Leadership
Through the years there have been many effective ways of leading people. There
are three main types of leadership in the world specifically. There is autocratic,
democratic, and free rein. Autocratic is where the leader is the center of all the
organization with all the power. Democratic is where the leader gives up most of the
power and uses input of the entire organization. The last being free rein, which is exactly
what it sounds like. There is no one leader but all are equal and everyone is in control.
Democratic is the best method of leadership method because it includes everyone, the
decisions are much better, and it is better for the leader.
First is autocratic leadership. This method is centered clearly around the leader.
One of the most famous autocratic leaders was Adolf Hitler. This type of leadership is
good for making quick decisions since the leader has all the power. Also, it provides
strong motivation and satisfaction to the leaders who dictate terms. (Chand) The
problems with it are that it usually doesnt last long. This is due to differing opinions
between the leader and his/her followers.
The next type of the leadership is democratic. This type of leadership gives lots of
power to the people. Delegation is key in a democratic organization. An advantage of is
would be the large amount of ideas being bounced back and forth. This creates many
good ideas and eventually the idea that is right for your organization most of the time. It
is also said that employee turnover rate is much less when using this type of leadership.
(Chand) A disadvantage to this type of leadership would be that it takes a long time. For
example, the US government is a democracy; it takes years for laws to be passed because
of all the varying opinions.

Lastly there is the type of leadership called free rein leadership. This is when
leaders let their subordinates do whatever with faith that they will be able to do what they
need to do with excellence. Its leadership without leading at all really. Advantages of this
would be the positivity it gives employees and there can be tons of ideas made just like
democratic. The difference being in democratic there is a leader to control everything and
make the final decisions. Something that isnt great about this form of leadership is there
is no guidance for the subordinates. (Chand)
In conclusion, democratic leadership is the best form of leadership. Democratic is
the best method of leadership method because it includes everyone, the decisions are
much better, and it is better for the leader. It is versatile and gives even the lowest
participants a chance to share ideas. The leader gets to delegate out responsibilities
making it easier for them to get things done. Democratic leadership would be the best
form of leadership all round, but at the end of the day to be successful, you should use all
3 types of leaderships at the same time, depending on the situation.
