Skills Analysis
The following form will help you to understand the skills you possess and any skill gaps you may
have.
Working effectively with others
(For example, on a group project or with children).
Key words: approachability, team work, co-operation, rapport, adaptability

I can say i can work effectively with others as i have used this skill at college and
developed this at college over the 3 years. This is by getting involved with
opportunities given to me with the Pathways to Prosperity event. I had worked with
a team of 4 and we worked effectively in helping each other with our lines and
scripts, being able to confidently speak, co-operating with each other. As a result,
the event was a success.
Communication
(For example, expressing your ideas, explaining something complicated)
Key words: listening, enthusiasm, clarity, pertinence, confidence

I can express my ideas, to where i think will help people, if this is what i think then i
will express this as an idea while having the confidence to do so. If there is a
moment where im explaining something which is complicated, i will add an
example to this to make sense and the person hearing my expression will get the
clarity of what i am trying to express.
Judgement and decision making
(For example, choosing which assignment to do, which information to include in a project)
Key words: decisiveness, research, planning, reaching a conclusion, evaluation

When it comes to judgement and decision making, i believe, researching is key to

when youre not sure about something that you may want to add to your
assignment for example, if i'm not sure then i would research this and plan on how
to add this to my assignment.
Persuading and influencing
(For example, persuading someone to come to a party or accepting your argument)
Key words: communication, leadership, negotiation, charisma, motivation, determination,
forcefulness, vision, empathy

I think when it comes to persuading and influencing, communication is key. You

have to listen to the other person while youre trying to get people to accept your
part of an argument. You need to gather all the important point of why youre saying
what youre saying. In college i have applied this to many occasions where I have
worked in a team, we are all expressing our ideas. And because i think my idea will
work of practising in a big hall practising our scripts, i tried persuading my team

mates into choosing mine by pointing out all the positives. We then chose the big
hall to practise our scripts as it would be equivalent to the events venue.
Ability to solve problems
(For example, maths assignments, coping when team members don't pull their weight)
Key words: critical thinking, analysis, lateral thinking, creativity)

I think I have the skill to solve problems. The main thing is not to think about it too
much and worry about it and just go ahead and get it done. Sometimes, it's not
about when team members don't maybe pull their weight, i have this thing where if
my other team member hasn't done what theyre supposed to do then i just do it as
i just feel content when that task is done and finished and put to a side. I think this
is when my critical thinking comes along when wanting everything perfect which is
why i do not mind doing work when i know it's my responsibility.
Time Management
(For example, ensuring your assignments are done on time)

I can say i am pretty good at time management. I have been working at

Incommunities for a year and a half. Meanwhile i have been getting involved in
project planning and events, doing my assignment and handing them in before the
deadlines.
Use of IT
(For example, word processing a report, using a specialist package to solve a maths problem)

I am really confident in using Word, Excel and Powerpoint. I use them on a regular
basis, as I use them at work and college also. I do databases at work and am
currently doing this for a project at college so i can say i am quite confident in using
Excel and word is something i use for my assignment and other documents i create
at work. Powerpoint is something that i use at work mainly at work for presentations
and also at college i use it quite less. Currently i am working on a presentation for
all centre of excellence students
Achieving your goals
(For example, getting enough votes to be elected to a role in society)
Key words: determination, commitment, will-power, resolution, stamina, ambition, energy, resilience

I am very determined in achieving my goals. To strengthen in reaching my goals, I

have been continuously getting involved in networking with employers at the Centre
of Excellence, in project managing events, planning and running an event. I want to
become a Marketing Manager in the future after my degree. For this I have been
working my way up whichever way possible to make my CV stand out in terms of
showing my passion and interest in Marketing overall. Currently i am project
managing an annual festival called the Saltaire Arts Trail. They had approached me
with their ideas for me to implement them. We have been having meetings back
and forth to make this event happen and the outcome of this for me will be brilliant
to show off on my CV and to network with employers.
Specialist subject knowledge

Business Studies - Mainly with Marketing subject as i have been working in a

marketing department for a year and a half. I have got the full idea now of how
people work in an office environment and especially how Marketing works in a
business practically and not just theoretically. I have been lucky to get the first hand
opportunity into the department and been able to get involved in the companys
marketing processes and work.
In which skills can you offer plenty of examples where you are using the skill?

- Team Working Skills

The examples of this skill would be my participation and involvement with the
Centre of Excellence projects and events.
- Communication Skills
An example of this skill would be part of my involvement with my team mates with
my participation with the Centre of Excellence
- Organisational and Independent Skills
This example would be how i have organised everything i do on a daily basis from
my assignment/college work to my work in my office. At college i have all my level 3
business units in each folder with it being colour co-ordinated so i know where to
find them and theyre not all over the place. My Independent skills would come from
doing my college assignment and handing them in on time before the deadline and
being independent at my workplace with the tasks i do.
