Extension
Starting Point:
Stand behind the line in order to throw to
complete a Bocce Ball game.

Refinement
Bowled delivery bowl is delivered
underhand thrown to a run along the
ground & end up as near to the Pallino as
possible.
Raised bowl bowl is delivered
underhand through the air to end up as
near as possible to the Pallino.

Application
Does your ball end up near the Pallino?

Throw bowl is thrown underhand into

the air after a run-up to displace the
Pallino or the opponents bowl.

Did your throw displace the Pallino?

Did you also displace your opponents
bowl?

With a group of 4 use a fair coin toss for

the tournament.

Only participants are in the competition.

Are you courteous to others during and

after the fair coin toss?

Pallino is rolled or tossed by member of

the team who won the coin toss.

Tosses the Pallino and deliver the first

Lesson Plan
A coin toss determines
color of the team, and
which team has the
pallino first.

The person who is

standing in the back right
hand corner will throw
first. (See the diagram
on the task card.)
The first team throw the
pallino ball into the court.
Aim for the center line.
This team will also throw
the first bocce ball.
Then it is the second
teams turn. They must
get a ball closer to the
pallino than the first
team or they keep going
until they have thrown all
four balls.
