Dear Parent/Guardian,
The annual Interhouse Cross Country carnival will take place on Friday 20 May 2016 commencing at
approximately 9.30am and concluding at approximately 12:00pm. The venue for the carnival is Central
Lakes Park (the same as previous years). A map showing the address of the venue is attached to this letter.
Students are to wear their full sports uniform including school hat which may be removed for races and
special running shoes may be worn for the race. Students must also bring a water bottle and fruit snack in
their school bag. Buses will begin departure from school at 9.00am. All students are to come to school as
usual for the distribution of age level bands and marking of attendance rolls. Students are not to be taken
by parents to the venue or taken after the event and classes are to stay with their class teacher prior to and
at the conclusion of the race. During the carnival parents are able to sit along the course or behind the
roped areas. This enables smooth transitions for students and ensures teachers can provide the necessary
supervision required for off site activities. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this.
Please note that this is a compulsory school day and all students are to participate. Students who do not
wish to run are expected to at least walk the course. Please do not give in to requests from your child to
stay home on this day. Students will be training for this carnival both in PE lessons and in class time.
Parking for parents will be clearly designated at the venue.
