Personalized Learning Plan Part A: Long-term Goals and Learning Objectives

PLANNING FOR WORK-BASED LEARNING
Consider your past experiences, interests, and future career and education goals to answer the questions below.
What is your area of elective focus in high school?
My area of elective focus is high school was art and childhood education.

What are your plans for after high school?

After high school I plan on going to college to become certified in art education K-12.

Describe your future career goals:

My future career goals are to teach art in high school.

What kind(s) of education or training might you need after you graduate from high school?

I would have to go through an undergraduate practicum degree and earn my license to teach art in K-12.

What placement or capstone work-based learning experience do you hope to get?

I hope to discover if art education is a path I actually want to take. I also hope to gain work related skills and experience in
teaching. Through my experiences I want to be able to look back and reflect upon my first experience in the feild of
education and choose my career pathway from that.

ONCE YOU HAVE IDENTIFIED A POSSIBLE PLACEMENT

How is this work-based learning experience aligned with your career goals?

I will be working with an Art 1 high school requirement course. This course is designed to teach children the basics of art
techniques and history. I feel this will best prepare me for a career in a high school art class, since all students are
required to take and pass the class and all teachers have at least one Art 1 course.

What do you want to learn through this experience that will help you progress toward your long-term goal?

Through this expereince I hope to learn what it's like to teach a varitety of grade levels at once and how to be an effective
teacher.

What special projects or activities will help you practice important skills?

In order to learn the skills I hope to gain I must study the way my coordinating teacher teaches and practice for myself.
