Aim of Session
4B
Construct a science lesson, based on the
Australian Curriculum, using the pillars of
Thinking Science.

Materials required
Australian Curriculum overview A3
summary
Science Understanding elaborations
Sample Thinking Science lesson
Planning documents [hard copy and
electronic] lesson framework; guiding
questions
Resource Student textbooks (Carey Baptist)

In small collaborative
groups
The aim at the end of this session is for each small
group to have developed a lesson plan, which will
be shared amongst colleagues in the Thinking
Science Dropbox.
Teachers to choose an area of the Year 9 or 10
Australian Curriculum to focus their lesson on.
For each lesson, groups need to:
Incorporate the Thinking Science pillars
Use the lesson framework and guiding questions
document to adapt or develop a lesson

Concrete
Preparatio
nThe terms of
the problem
need to be
set.
