CAST 2011

We have 25 students in our 7th grade math class. The students are learning about geometric
shapes specifically triangles. Can you tell me about the students in the class?
The students come from diverse backgrounds. We have students with limited English
proficiency, hard of hearing and low vision. In order to accommodate the need of each students,

we have compiled the alternative lesson plans. First, we will have them make a list of all the
geometric shapes that they know to activate their background knowledge. For students with low
English proficiencies, we had them create bilingual flashcards using a website called Quizlet.
We are going to provide close captioning for videos, high contrast, larger font for the worksheets
and directions.
