Calm Down/ Focus Bottle Classroom Expectations

The purpose of these calm down/ focus bottles is to give the students an
external tool to focus on while they work to calm down internally (through
focusing on their breathing). They can be used when a student is struggling
with impulse control in the classroom or when a student is having a hard
time focusing.
Expectations for use
o Bottles are not to be thrown. If thrown, we can no longer use the
bottle.
o We keep the bottles to ourselves; others may not play with them.
If we share them with others, we will receive one (1) warning before
having it taken away.
o We use the bottles for impulse control for a brief break to refocus our attention. If we use them as a toy, we will receive one (1)
warning before having the bottle taken away.
o We will signal to our teacher that we need a brief break within
the classroom to re-focus before using our bottle.
o It is up to our teacher to decide if we can use them or not. There
may be times that it is inappropriate to use in the classroom and we
will respect our teachers decision.
The bottles will be kept in a location in the classroom that the teacher
decides upon. This location is________________________________
