Childhoodisanabstractconcept,becausememoriesareamererepresentation
ofwhatwewishtoremembermost,goodorbad.Therefore,theiraccuracytotheactual
occurrencesareoftenfalseorexaggeratedtoacertaindegree.Weoftendelude
ourselvesintofocusingoninherentlypositiveornegativeaspectsofsuchmemories
ratherthantheobtrusivelymundaneandrathercommonplacefeature.Iamarather
frequentpatronofthisongoingparadox.Now,Irelatemypersonalexperiencesand
theirrelationshiptomycurrentstate,andtheirroleinmyfutureendeavors.Asachild,I
foundmyselfintoxicated,bytherelativelysimple,yetcomplicatedtoy:theLego.Iwrite
ofthisduetoLego'sintenseinfluenceonmypsycheandideaoftheworld.Theconcept
behindLegotoysaretoinvoketheimaginationofachild,whilekeepingthemwithinthe
contextofeachset'srespectiveuniverse.Thisideadidnotpertaintome,forIcreated
myownfantasyworldsinfusedwithwars,diplomacy,tactics,andpolitics.Lookingupon
myinteractionswiththeseLegosnow,bringsmetotherealizationthattheprimal,
adolescentimaginationthatIconjuredwasamereprecursortomyinterestsasa

teenagerandayoungadult.Myfascinationwithmapsandgeopoliticsarosefromthe
worldsIcreatedwithLego's.ThelegacyofLego'soccupyacoreaspectofmy
personality,andcreatedaformofentertainmentthatfascinatedmeandledmeto
whereIamnow.

Thepathshownintheaboveimageisrepresentativeofaratherobviousmetaphor:the
ideathatallpeopletraveldowntheirowneverchangingpath.However,inmysituation
thispathsignifiesmorethanasimplemetaphorforthehumanjourney.Ithasbeenan
integralpartofmylife,whichinacertainrespectisnotanoverwhelmingamountof
time,butlongenoughformetogatherenoughinformationtocultivatemyownpersonal
affinitiesandinterpretations.Thispathhasbecomeanimportantlocationwithinmylife,
notonlyduetothefondmemoriesthattakeplacethere,butthewisdomandpeacethe
pathhasprovidedmeandstillprovidedmetothisveryday.NowIdontmeanliteral
wisdom,despitewhatyoumaycurrentlythink,Iamentirelysane.Thepathprovidesme
witharathertranquillocationtocomposemyselforreflectuponoccurrencesthroughout
dailylife.Thepathalsoretainsasymbolicedge,forasIwalkpath,Iwalktowardsa
goal,anidea,notjusttowalkforthesakeofwalking,buttointeractwithmyselfandor
natureatamoreprimordiallevelthanIwouldotherwise.Thisgoalisnotsimple.This
goalisnotcommon.Thisgoalis
notsummarizedeasily,butthisgoaldrivesmetolearn
andgrowasahumanbeing.

Toperceiveyourownfutureisaformidabletask.Especiallyforateenagerlikemyself.
It'squitestrenuoustoselfanalyzeyourself,becausemoreoftenthannotyouonly
uncoveryourfaults,butyoualsodivulgeanaspectofyourselfthatmaybeofpoignant
nature.However,selfrealizationisnotalwaysanegativeaffair.Withthatinmindmy
choicesandconclusionsonwhatIplantodoarethatofa15yearold,therefore,these
beliefsaresubjecttochangeasIgrow.However,tounderminemycurrentfeelings
wouldbeoutrightridiculous,soitssafetoassumesomeoftheseconceptsshallpursue
throughtherestofmylife.Funnyenoughmymindsettowardslife,hasntchanged
muchsinceIwasayoungboy,orchestratingelaboratewarsbetweenrivalfactionsand
maintainingpoliticalcoups.However,tocreateaworldisnotmyambition,buttoamplify
myknowledgeoftheworldthatweresidein.Thiscannotbedonewithoutagreater
familiarityofourworld.Inmyopinion,alifewithinonetown,city,village,county,
country,continentisnotalifeatall.Howcanoneappreciatetheirsurroundingsifthats
alltheyvecometoknow?Toassimilatewithglobalsocietiesnotofmyownisnotan
uncommonconcept.WhereIdifferismyalreadyinaneknowledgeofforeignaffairsand
globalissues.NowasIentermysecondyearofhighschoolthechallengetocreatea
careeroutofthisknowledgeawaitsmeonthehorizon.
