CableBusisdesignedtocarrylargeamountsofelectricalpowerforusewithinpowergenerationand
industrialplantsforserviceentrances,mainfeeders,distributionapplications,andretrofitsforexisting
powersystems.EachAdvancedCableBussystemiscustomdesignedandmanufacturedtomeetyour
specificjobrequirements.
UniformconductorspacingismaintainedbyourcustommanufacturedCableSupportBlocks,which
are
themselvesheldinplacebytheUFormShortCircuitBracesweldedintoeachenclosuresection.The
combinationoftheCableSupportBlocksandtheShortCircuitBracesallowsoursystemstowithstand
shortcircuitforcesofupto100kARMSsymmetrical,keepingpersonnelandequipmentsafeifafault
occurs.
AdvancedCableBusmanufacturesenclosurecoversthatare50%ventilated.Theventilationand
conductorspacingallowoursystemstooperateatfreeairrating.Eachcablecanconductmorepower
withoutacorrespondingriseintemperature.Accordingly,CableBussystemsemployfewercablesthan
cablesintrayorcablesinconduit,whichimpactsprojectcostssignificantly.
AdvancedCableBussystemshaveanampacityrangefrom800Ato6000A,andvoltageratingsof480V,
600V,5kV,15kV,25kV,35kV,andoccasionallyupto69kV.Typicalapplicationsincludeconnections
betweentransformersandswitchgear,tieconnectionsbetweentwopiecesofswitchgear,between
motorcontrolcentersandlargemotors,orbetweengeneratorsandgeneratorbreakersorgenerator

requiringlargeramountofcableforthesamecurrentrating.
Thecostofenclosuresforcablebusishighinrelationtocablesintrayandcablesinconduit,becausetheothertypesarebasically
bulkmaterialthatorderedquiteconveniently,whereascablebusisanengineeredsystem,verysimilartobusduct.
Cablebushasafurtheradvantageofbeingtheonlytypeofinstallationwherethemanufacturer'sdesignguaranteesthatthe
conductorcurrentwillbeasbalancedasitcanbe.Andtheotheradvantageforcablebusisthatithasflexibilityinroutinganddesign,
