The Channel I would like my documentary to be aired on channel 4 because its

all about creating diversity and developing new talent. With my documentary its
all about being different and how they cope with being a different size and how
they live with it.
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/shut-ins-britains-fattestpeople/videos/all/shut-ins-britains-fattest-people-aftab this clip is called Shut-Ins:
Britain's Fattest People Aftab. Aftab is a man who is determined to change his
life around in hope that it will fix his marriage. This is similar to my documentary
because he is overweight and is need of help and in my documentary it is
showing how hard it is for young children to stop there bad habits.

This subject is important to me about this is something that is happening to most
young children and its even happening to my brother. Most adults dont really
think too much about what they feed their children because most of the time if
you dont feed them what they want they will cry and cry and make your life hell
until they get what they want so the parents give in and feed them what they
want. It wouldnt be so bad if the children where outside everyday getting
exercise by being on their bikes or just running around the garden but there not,
most of these young children are sitting inside which the TV and playing on their
video games. I have chosen to do this type of documentary to show them how
some young children do want to change and show them how fast food and junk
food has effected there life.

My intentions for my programme are to educate the viewers what is happening

to the younger generations and how we should try and do something about it.
Young children have to eat what there parents are giving them and if they are
feeding them junk food then that what they will eat and will become overweight
and will have a high risk of become very ill later on in life. Im trying to make
more people aware of how overweight young children are.

Audience
My target audience is for any aged parents. I chose them because they can help
stop young children becoming overweight. This can also educate parents to let
them know if they should be worried about their own childrens weight or if they
are feeding them the right foods. This could also give parents the idea to start all
eating healthier. this could improve their childs mood massively. If think most
parents would do anything for their children to make sure they wont have any
health issues later on in life.
From my research I have found other programmes that have been aimed at
parents The programme teaches children and their parents about healthy
eating, physical activity and 'making positive lifestyle choices'. The youngsters
are encouraged to play active games while their parents set long-term health
goals. The shocking figures have been released by NHS Lothian in Scotland.

BBC News Magazine wrote an article about Child obesity: Why do parents

let their kids get fat?

The health risks for obese children may be even greater than previously
estimated, new research suggests. So why do parents let their children get fat?
The recent start of the new school year was greeted with reports of a dramatic
rise in demand for extra-large uniforms for primary school pupils. It came as no
surprise to Carol. Her two nieces were wearing size 14 skirts by the age of 11,
the average size worn by a grown woman in the UK. Her son also struggled to
find a uniform big enough at secondary school as his weight crept up to nearly
20 stone (127kg) in his teens.
They had even spoken to mothers and asked them how they feel about their
child being overweight.
"You do feel judged by other people when your child gets to that size, but the
harshest critic is yourself," says the mother-of-two from Birmingham.

My Genre of documentary is an educational documentary, which is all about

someone trying to educate you on a specific topic. In the documentary I will talk
to you about all the information I have gathered about young overweight
children. I will be talking to a health nurse who is an experts and I will talk about
facts and figures about this issue. I am also bringing people who have got a
young overweight child who can help the views understand it from there point of
view.by doing this the people who are watching the documentary will now if that
is how their child is acting to see if they would talk to an expert about it too.

My format of documentary is going to be expository because I will be talking

directly to the viewers. This style of Documentary is one of the main four types
to have a documentary like. I will use what makes authoritative commentary
involving voiceover and titles. By doing this I will create a strong argument and
point of view to help the audience get involved. Im using my own voice because
it is a clear, strong, well-spoken voice which everyone will
understand what I am saying. People like David Attenborough use
this form in there documentarys. This format is perfect for my
documentary and my target audience because its all facts, I will
be talking to the parents of these children and getting there
options and giving them advice about what they should do if they
think there child is overweight. So by talking to my target
audience they will know I am aiming it at them.

Realism documentary is filmed exactly when the events happen. Most of the time
you can tell that what is happening in the programme is being filmed first hand
because you can see the camera people and they may even have to interfere
with the cast if they start fighting which you can tell is not reacted because they
will use the only good footage they got of the events. The people in the
programmes agree to be in the programmes and to be filmed. My documentary
will be a realism programme because I will have recorded interview, Voiceovers
and Visual evidence. Which are the codes and conventions for a realism
documentary. This style suits my documentary because it is a real event that is
happing in our society at the moment. This situation is happening to real people
who have no idea pf what will happen to them if they dont stop eating the way
they are. This will help my aim because it I am basing it on a human being so it is
believable. My aim is to educate by using someone who is already suffering from
being overweight so by seeing it happen first hand will help the views
understand.

Budget:
As I am using college equipment it is free but if I had to hire a camera.
http://www.lensesforhire.co.uk/ this website is somewhere you can hire camera
equipment. If I didnt get free equipment I would go here and get a Zeiss (Canon

fit) Distagon T* 15mm f/2.8 ZE because I have a canon video recorder. I would
also need a crew to help capture the footage at different angles. I would use the
specific lenses because I have used it before and it was perfect fit to my camera
and would capture everything perfectly. This lynx
http://www.bluefintv.com/broadcast-camera-crew-hire/ is the website I would use
for crew I would need to hire for the documentary. If I get a 2-Man Crew they
come with Sony XDCam Kit PMW500/ PDW800 and they cost 1000 per day. As I
dont have any money to put towards it, I will be filming it all myself and with my
own equipment. I would only need the crew for 4 days, I will need to plan my
interviews to make sure all the timings are good so the crew would know how
long I would need them for. If I only needed them for the morning and lived local
then I wouldnt have to pay for lunch because they could just go home and eat
but if it is going to take longer I will have to supply food which would coast
another 100 on top of the 4000 I will be paying for the crew. Out of these two
choices I would choice to hire a crew because it already comes with the cameras
and everything I would need.
