The dictionary is divided into two sections. The first section contains 50 double-page illustrations, The second section. contains an alphabetical word list, a thematic word list, a dialogs index and the complete lyrics for the 50 songs and chants. Activity Each Topic has one or more activities. Use these to practice the vocabulary words or personalize the Topic. Most of the activities present an idea that can be expanded upon by the teacher. Answers to all the activities ore in the Teacher's Resource Book. Some of the activity types include: © counting + miming * categorizing * ordering alphabetically * searching for information in the picture * finding the odd-one-out * talking about yourself and asking others about themselves Dialogs The dialogs use many of the vocabulary words in short, meaningful exchanges. They provide practice in some of the most common functions of language, such as asking for information or stating preferences. Many of the dialogs can be used for role-play. Words in the dialogs and numbers in the word lists are color-coded, icating which words can be substituted into each dialog Songs and Chants Each Topic contains a song or chant and its karaoke version to help children practice the vocabulary words in a lively and creative way. Lyrics to all the songs and chants can be found in section two of the dictionary. Hidden Object One item from Topic 1 Alphabet is hidden on each double-page illustration of the dictionary. Finding the hidden object can be used as a fun warm-up activity. Answers to the location of all the hidden objects are in the Teacher's Resource Book. Small illustrations and numbers are placed next fo each word for easy reference, Color-coding All the vocabulary words are color- coded to match ‘the substitutable dialogs. All words with red numbers against them can be substituted into the dialog containing the red word. The same applies to green, blue and purple numbers. Words with black numbers are not designed to fit the dialogs Audio CDs ‘Two CDs are provided at the back of this dictionary.
