Mark Antony Beats Brutus
How is it that Mark Antony convince the people? He does it so clever that he earns to touch the
peoples hearts. Also because he has the advantage that he gets to give the last words so he can use
Brutuss words against him and also because he uses elements of persuasion. It starts out with Caesar
being in the temple with all the conspirators and they distract Mark Antony so he wouldnt be part of it.
They end up killing caesar and Brutus gets to give a speech at Caesars funeral and also does Antony.
Brutus tells Mark Antony that he cant say anything against him. He does stuff against him but in a very
very clever way that isnt direct.
Mark Antonys speech is more effective because he touches the peoples hearts, insists that Caesar
is a good wise man, and conspirators. He wins the audiences attention because he manipulates them that
he has feelings for Caesar. He uses many techniques for the people to believe him. He says What cause
holds you then to mourns for him?, thats when he cries. He uses the elements Pathos to show his
emotions. Brutus on the other hand, uses Ethos because he insists that Caesar had to die, that it was the
best thing to do. Brutus says Had you rather have Caesar living and die as slaves?.Hes using the
element Logos because hes explaining the things that would've happened if Caesar were dead or alive,
being logical. His speech focuses on caring

about Rome and the people. Brutus says that Caesar had to die and Mark Antony says it too but means
that hes innocent.
Another reason that his speech is better is because he uses the literal device Repetition. He is so
smart because he says it so good that Brutus doesnt realize hes doubting him or saying hes wrong. Only
the people start to get the feeling of what hes trying to say. The more he says Brutus honorable, the more
hes dishonorable. He saysBrutus says he is ambitious, Brutus is an honorable man. Mark Antony
literally says it eight times during the entire time. Its so clever that he repeats it again and again to hint
that he means the opposite of honorable.He repeats the words Ambitiousand Honorable. He also uses
Sarcasm when he says that he would never wrong Brutus or the conspirators. He saysI will not do them
wrong. Hes really saying that he would. He also used the element Ethos when he says Dont let my
words stir you up.Saying that they should only focus on his character, the way he is. He makes the
people understand that Caesar was not ambitious
Another reason that his speech wins over Brutuss speech is because he tries to say that Caesar is
a good guy, not counting the bad things hes done. They both say hes a good man but Brutus says hes
ambitious. In Mark Antonys speech, he says Caesar cried for the poor. He said it but he really meant to
make the people understand that he really was a good. When Mark Antony says things about Caesar, he
really means it. Caesar was not so ambitious because he rejected the crown a couple times, for someone
to be ambitious they'd have to be tough and Caesar was too soft, and also because he brought hostages
back to rome. We all know that Caesar really did want the crown but he had to make a scene. Brutus says
Caesar is a good

man but he doesn't mean, he acts like if he really cared for him and that he was his friend. All
that Brutus showed was his love for rome and not Caesar. He gets to convince the commoners of his
real emotion and understand that he is for real. He also helps them understand who Caesar really is and

what he's done, making them forget all the bad things about him. He gets to turn the people against the
conspirators by his repetition and hints that he gives. Brutus does get to convince the people that Caesar
had to die but just for a short period of time. I think Mark Antony wins over all because how he cleverly
used Pathos, Repetition, Sarcasm and Ethos.Mostly the way he talks to show his honesty. After this,
probably the people will revolt or overthrow the conspirators.
