ABSTRACT

A study of some existing materials shows that a wide range of supervisory techniques
are techniques employed by internal and external supervisions. Therefore, this paper
discussed the concept of supervision and the techniques of instructional supervision
which include: Classroom Visitation and Observation Technique, Inter-School
Visitation Technique, Microteaching Technique, Demonstration Technique, Research
Supervision Technique, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using each of
them. Problems of supervision in Nigerian schools are also highlighted. The
conclusions were drawn and relevant recommendations were made accordingly.
