    Controls Data, a Site Collection can hold

    SharePoint 2013

    Two values, Maximum Limit, Warning Limit


    Maximum Limit : A site collection size cannot exceed. Locks site collection for any
    adding/updating data.

    Warning Limit : Threshold level, sends warning email to Site Collection Administrator if
    reached.
    Farm Administrator can do following to change the limits
    - Change storage limit of quota, must re-assigned to Site Collection
    - Apply new quota (with higher limit to Site collection)
    - Change the storage limit manually. Overriding the limit defined by Quota
    template
