JOB PURPOSE
The role of Group Coordinator is to organise Mothers Network Wellingtons core business,
our discussion groups for mothers.
ORGANISATIONAL PERSPECTIVE
Supporting mothers since 1979; Mothers Network is a not for profit organisation, based in
Wellington. We run 6 weekly discussion groups rotationally for mothers with young babies
and children. Whether parenting alone, at home mums or working mums. Our purpose is to
provide a friendly, supportive environment for women to share experiences, foster lasting
friendships or create personal support networks.
The focus is on the mothers and the groups acting as a support, a way to build their own local
network.

Check Mailchimp every 2-3 days for


group enrolments and call and email
mums within 48 hours.
Run 8-10 Mothers Network discussion
groups per year. Organise venues,
facilitators, babysitters and resources for
groups in accordance to the group
schedule.

General
Administrative Duties

Arrange police vetting for new


babysitters.
Attend the first and last group session to
assist babysitters and facilitators.
Provide ongoing support to facilitators
throughout the group.
Support women outside of the groups by
providing information when requested.
Arrange recruitment & annual training of
group facilitators, babysitters.
Actively networking with other charities
and stakeholders by attending seminars,
training & conferences as they arise.
Liaise with Plunket, midwives etc
regarding upcoming groups and mail out
brochures.
Put up posters in public spaces like
libraries and community centres.
Ensure the stocks of brochures are kept
up and arrange a print run if more are
needed.
Organise 3-4 per annual skill sharing
workshops for facilitator training
Help with planning and attendance of
events
Plan and create the quarterly Mailchimp
newsletter that goes out to our members
and professionals.
Update website regularly.
Maintain group resources, facilitator and
babysitter folders and other supplies.
Organise facilitator and babysitter
payments with the Admin & Finance
Coordinator.
Source suitable links & publish Facebook
posts every 2-3 days. Set up Facebook
groups for the Mothers Network groups.
Update the Mothers Network Wellington
Meetup.com account with group details.
Regular planning communication and
workload sharing with Admin & Finance
Coordinator
Support the Governance Group Secretary
and Chairperson with organisation of
monthly meetings.
Prepare reports for Governance group
prior to meetings
Maintain an MS Excel spreadsheet of the
group participants to present at the
AGM.

Other:
There is flexibility as to when the hours are worked. The role is part time for 10 hours per
week. Mothers Network closes down during the time period of December through to
February. Mothers Network does not have an office space, so working at home is essential.
The Administration & Finance Coordinator works closely with the Groups Coordinator, they
both report to a governance group, which oversees the wider management of Mothers
Network.
