- 2. Describe how human activity can impact an ecosystem.
- 3. Create a mind map to display factors affecting ecosystems and human activity.
Teachers Prior Preparation/Organisation:

Create Weebly with embedded ICT tools.

Create Webquest for student directed learning.
Organise groups of students to work effectively.

Provision for students at educational risk:

Student with vision impairment requires seating close
to whiteboard and magnification equipment for viewing
task.
Student with ADD/ADHD to be directed to follow steps
outlined on Weebly page.
Use picture cues for students who are still struggling
with reading.

LESSON EVALUATION (to be completed AFTER the lesson)

Assessment of Lesson Objective and Suggestions for Improvement:
A checklist will be used to determine:
Students display lesson objectives through completion of group mind map at end of lesson.
Students can describe human activities that impact ecosystems.
Students can work collaboratively to research impacts of logging on ecosystems.
Teacher self-reflection and self-evaluation:
Anecdotal notes will be kept on:
Were the students interested in the lesson that you presented them with?
Did each student participate?
Were all objectives met?
What aspects of the lesson did the students complete?
How can this be improved?

Weebly website for

student Webquest.

Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

3. Answer Garden: Students are directed to log onto Answer Garden and
begin brainstorming current/previous knowledge about ecosystems
and human impact. Teacher to prompt students as necessary and
encourage participation from all students. Teacher to summarise
brainstorm and clarify any identifiable misconceptions before moving
on.
4. Scootle: In groups of 3, students are to access the Scootle link on the
Weebly page to participate in the Logging activity. One student in each
group needs to be selected as scribe to take notes on what the group
learns throughout the activity. These notes will be used to contribute to
