Komparatif – As…As

 Struktur “as…as” digunakan untuk
membandingkan hal-hal yang setara.
Contoh:
1. Jennifer is 163cm and Tony
is 163cm. Jennifer is as tall
as Tony.
2. This house is 40 years old,
that house is also 40 years
old. This house is as old as
that house.
3. Bach’s music is as good as
Mozart’s.
4. Spring is as warm as fall.
“as…as” juga bisa digunakan dalam
kalimat negatif dan pertanyaan.
Contoh:
1. The Amazon isn’t as long as the
Nile.
2. The second movie wasn’t as good as
the first.
3. Is Japan as expensive as England?
“as…as” juga bisa digunakan untuk
menunjukkan sebuah jumlah yang
ekstrim.
1. “Eat as much as you want.” The
amount you eat is “equal” to the
amount you want.
2. Hurry! Run as fast as you can!
3. Study as hard as possible.
Kuantitas yang berlipat ganda juga dapat
dinyatakan dengan “as…as”.
Contoh:
1. I’m 22. My friend is twice as old as
me. She’s 44 years old.
2. My aunt is three times as old as me.
She’s 66.
3. And my grandmother is four times
as old as me. She’s 88 years old.
4. Jenny is also 22 years old. She’s the
same as me.
Komparatif: Kuantitas
 Quantifier, atau kata sifat yang
menunjukkan kuantitas, juga
memiliki bentuk komparatif (tingkat
lebih) dan superlatif (tingkat
paling).Quantifier (much/many/a lot
of)
1. I have a lot of apples.
2. I don’t have many apples.
3. I don’t have much time.
4. few – They have a few potatoes.
5. - little – We’ve got a little rice.
Comparative
more
1. I have more apples than you.
2. I don’t have more apples than you.
3. I don’t have more time than you.
4. fewer - We’ve got fewer potatoes.
5. - less – They’ve got less rice.
Superlative
most
1. He has the most apples.
2. I don’t have the most apples.
3. I don’t have the most time.
4. fewest -You’ve got the least
potatoes.
5. least – I’ve got the least rice.
Perlu diingat bahwa:
many dan few digunakan bersama
dengan kata benda yang dapat dihitung
(countable noun).
much dan less digunakan bersama dengan
kata benda yang tidak dapat dihitung
(uncountable noun).
a lot of / lots of bisa digunakan baik
bersama dengan countable maupun
uncountable noun.
Kita juga bisa menggunakan struktur
“as…as” untuk menunjukkan keseteraan.
Contoh:
1. We have as many candies as you.
2. There are as few people in this town
as that one.
3. She’s got as much water as we do.
4. I’ve got as little time as you do.
