BIBLE CHURCH
May 26, 2016
Dear Families and Friends of WCS,
Last fall we adopted what proved to be a most fitting theme verse for the 2015-16 school year: “In Christ Jesus,
then, | have reason to be proud of my work for God” (Rom. 15:17). The road of transition had been paved with
honest assessment, strategic planning, and fresh initiatives, including:
‘+ Multiple options for pre-kindergarten ‘+ Application for international Student Program
+ Afterschool program + Culture Kids Club (Spanish program)
+ Online database system (RenWeb) + Expanded offerings for Section V athletics
‘+ Enhanced music programs ‘+ Formulation of academic leadership team
+ Updated technology lab + Faculty and staff performance reviews
‘+ New athletic clubs for younger grades + Appointment of new Administrator
Notwithstanding all of these remarkable achievements, we are greatly saddened to inform you that Webster
Christian Schoo! will be closing at the end of this current school year. The problem is that we simply do not have
the number of students we need to sustain the school financially and thus to provide a standard for excellence
i Christian education.
Based on our projected enrollment figures, especially seen in light of the overall downward trajectory of the
last few years (see additional attachment), we do not see a viable path for achieving a financially sustainable
enrollment level, nor for continued growth. Even if we could raise the §250,000 - $300,000 that we would need
to “make a go of it” for next year, we believe that al that these donations would dois to borrow time, and that
next year we would find ourselves in the same position that we are now. Therefore we thought It best, based on
prayer, the recommendation of the School Committee, and careful consideration of all the major factors involved,
‘that we should make this announcement now and allow our faculty and staff as much time as is feasible to secure
employment elsewhere.
In order to help our faculty and staff through this transition, we are setting up a special fund designated as the
““WCS Faculty & Staff Gift Fund.” This fund will be open for tax-deductible contributions through June 30. To
donate online, go to httpillwebstercs.orgisupportlonline-¢iving/ and follow the instructions. Otherwise, you
can make a check payable to Webster Christian School and put “WCS Faculty & Staff ift Fund” on the memo
line, After June 30, we will distribute the proceeds to our faculty and staff as a tangible expression of our
profound thanks for their dedication in serving our Lord, our students and families through the ministry of
Webster Christian School.
Finally, be assured that we are committed to continuing to serve you throughout the remainder of this school
year. As you can imagine, many logistical matters will need to be covered in the next couple of months, so we
do covet your prayers, patience, and cooperation. Beginning next Tuesday, May 31, the school administration
will provide guidance and action steps regarding transfer of records, refunds for pre-paid tuition and fees for
the 2016-17 school year, etc. Additionally, representatives of the Board of Elders, the School Committee and the
leadership team will hold a Q & A Session on Tuesday, June 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium to answer any
remaining questions or concerns you may have.
Sincerely in Christ,
The Board of Elders
