A Biblical Presentation creatively develops and presents one or

two selections of Scripture in an effort to foster understanding

of Gods word, deepen the speakers Christian faith, and
encourage the listener.

BIBLICAL PRESENTATION
SPECIFIC EVENT RULES
Goal: The goal of the event is to develop a piece from one or two selections of Scripture into an original and
unique performance.
Time: 10-minute maximum; no minimum time. There is no official penalty for time, and judges may use
discretion when weighing a speakers time into their ranking. The speaker should not be penalized for excessive
audience laughter, which may occasionally extend the time of a speech.
Rules: All General Individual Event Rules and Script Submission Rules and Guidelines must be followed,
along with the specific event rules below.
1. The speaker will choose one or two selections of Scripture to present. A selection of Scripture is
defined as one continuous biblical passage. It may span more than one book of the Bible, provided
that the books are consecutive (e.g., the last verses of Titus and the first verses of Philemon may be
considered one selection as they are consecutive books).
2. The selection(s) of Scripture may be taken from the following translations of the Bible: KJV, NKJV,
ESV, NIV, NASB. No other translations are allowed. Traditional Bibles must be used (i.e.
chronological or topical Bibles may not be used).
3. The speaker will choose the selection(s) of Scripture to fit the time limit, but each chosen selection of
Scripture must be unaltered. It is not permissible to cut out words or phrases or verses from a chosen
selection or to change the words in a selection for any reason. Chapter headings, etc. added by the
publisher are not considered to be Scripture and should not be included in the selection.
4. The biblical reference(s) for the selection(s) of Scripture must be verbally mentioned.
5. Each selection of Scripture must be kept intact and not woven together within the other sections of the
piece.
6. One or more narrative sections may be used. Narrative sections may include the introduction,
transitional analysis, and/or conclusion and are works outside the selection(s) of Scripture. The
speakers narrative section(s) must be presented in a manner and/or voice which clearly distinguish
them from the selection(s) of Scripture. A speaker may not assign original dialogue to a biblical
character.
7. If used, narrative sections may comprise no more than 300 total words.

8. Directly quoted material (quotes, song lyrics, etc.) may be used in the narrative section(s). If directly
quoted material is used, the outside source(s) must be mentioned in the verbal delivery of the speech
and cited parenthetically within the typewritten script.
9. A speaker may choose to use a plain, one-color cloth as a visual aid. If used, the cloth may be no
larger than 40 inches by 40 inches and may not have any design, writing, or fringe.
10. Upon entering the room, the cloth (if used) must be folded until the speech begins; otherwise, the
speaker may use the cloth any way he desires (e.g. as apparel or on the floor).
11. Other than the optional cloth, no visual aids, electronics, or costumes are allowed. The term visual
aids refers to items or audience members used to enhance the speech. A costume refers to a part or all
of the speakers attire that is worn to enhance the speech.
12. Limited singing and/or dancing is permitted only when motivated by the piece. No published tunes
from another source may be used in the selection of Scripture unless the lyrics are specifically
included in that particular selection of Scripture.
13. Sound effects may only be used if they are motivated by the selection of Scripture.
