FEMINIST ACTIVISTS FOR THE ABOLITION OF PROSTITUITON
FROM THE WOMEN DEMOCRATIC MOVEMENT OF SPAIN
Dear Manuela and Inge,
The Women Democratic Movement in Spain wants to express solidarity with
your fight against prostitution and its regulation as if it were a job when it is
extreme violence against women and children and it is the opposite of equality.
The Women Democratic Movement in Spain dreams of a new society based on
dignity, where women lives are worthly enough to be lived. In this sense, we are
going to keep on working on this topic, on prostitution, because we would like
to bring this debate to light in order to avoid this violence against women, this
kind of human rights violation.
We need to bring peace and dignity to women, because we are surrounded by so
many kinds of violence: rape, sexual harrassment, precarity, prostitution and
human trafficking for sexual prostituiton.
Women are the weakest among the weakest and feminist organizations such as
the one we belong to will try to defend their rights because we have utopias and
we need a society where half of it is not to be sold or treated as objects.
Pimps, mafias and important communication groups are against human and
women rights and therefore they react with fear and anger when you point out
in a map all brothels in a town or in a city, because their strategy is to hide
prostituion, violation of human rights and human trafficking.
We knew about this threaten when we started this campaign for the abolition of
prostitution. All the feminist movement unite is stronger and can fight for the
aprovement of a law against all kinds of violence against women.
Together we can go further, together we can achieve more goals, together we
can fight against patriarchy and capitalism, which bring death, violence and rape
to poor women.
