‘Tightening driving gear chain: (see photo) 1.) Remove cover approximately in the middle of the driving gear longitudinal ‘beam (2 screws, width across flats 13 mm). 2.) Attach special grease gua head supplied to lever-type manual grease gun and couple the head to the chain take-up cylinder. 3.) Add grease until the driving gear chain is sufficiently tight. 4.) Replace cover on driving gear beam. -57- 2 After draining the transmission ofl, the driving gear transmission should be flushed with ca. 0.4 gt transmission oil. ‘Transmission oil filling capacity and viscosity class are indicated on the driving gear transmission nameplate. The viscosity class indicated there, VG 220, refers to ambient temperatures of 10° to 30° C. At temperatures outside these limits the instructions in the following oil selection table should be observed. ‘The driving gear transmission should be filled with ca, 1.3 at oil. ~59- (adud SuPMo[[o] Uo Fxe} UIpyOq Jo WOTFe[SuBAy) LRUR@ [raomaullSSE8@ | owrcomen of «® “ “co vonsayson mt @| — wl ame eee aie exe soeana | sew | oan 22 wo ng zs cccag | Supees on 228 ge 09 xe wdo.an @ "8 satucon@, nvinwss @ M03 @ wo} 4a ouavns ca} enoo oo avs a8 ear | accu | voce un 1a038Iu39 0583 @ rates a @ wee} arene nviuvds @ ‘oom esovo oi araro | on-o6 | anon swommi$ 083 @ | pueauco woo = or PO ¥RwO ry “ool 3 ® popes ivory @ s8@ saci @ wisn @ wee 3 0@ 22804 | poseout 23 wo | ere | won “seo © “9.3 © 9 ox wostved @ "ba cu @ fay es a i ZOaTS NIC sopun FURTAT “ Qg9) 8/,0IUt *D ob 18 AiS008TA aypidourva uoysspursue.n 0} SuIprOooe ssvTo Ay]s0osTA OST oO ; oO 3 @® - highly doped gear lubricant of] for extended oil-change intervals ® - suitable gear lubricant oil obtainable at service stations All oils employed must at least achieve the 12th damage resistance level in FZG test [illegible]. At ambient temperatures of -10°C to +10° C an oil lower in viscosity by one class than that indicated on the nameplate should be selected. For ambient temperatures within the range from +30° C to +50° C, a viscosity class one level higher is recommended. None of these oils or greases attacks nonferrous metals, the paint (gray/green ~ RAL 6021 - color No. 8381 EP, mfr Paul Becker, 5000 Koeln-Hoehenberg, Adalbertstrasse 9), or any seals made of Simrit 31 PA/902. For roller bearings with separate lubrication a [illegible] saponified grease of NLGI class 2 is to be employed which is suitable for an application temperature range from [illegible]. FEED Feed chain: For checking the tension of the feed chain, the carriage should be positioned approximately level above the boring machine (transport position). The slide for the rotary power head must be moved either fully forward or fully to the rear. In this position the lower edge of the feed chain may sag maximally to the lower edge of the carriage. If the feed chain strikes the side face of the carriage when the slide is traversed (during forward boring), the tension of the feed chain is too low. To tighten the chain (see photo), loosen locknut "A" on one of the two chain adjusters and back off nut "B" somewhat. Then tighten nut "C" until proper chain tension is achieved. Finally, tighten nut "B" and locknut "A" (all nut 46 mm across flats). Kettenspanner "cr chain adjuster ~62+ ‘The feed chain should be sprayed with chain spray at least once a week, ‘Lubrication points of the chain revebser and the feed drive are shown in the ‘maintenance diagram. Feedgear mechanism: ‘The screws in the feedgear mechanism must be checked monthly for looseness. ‘The housing should always be kept clean to prevent heat dissipation from being reduced. Oil changes: The oil in the feedgear mechanism should be changed for the first time after ca. 300 hours of operation. Subsequent ofl changes should be carried out every 3000 hours of operation or every two years at the latest. The viscosity of the ofl used should be ca, 40 cSt (at 40° C), .e,, normally the same oil can he used as in the hydraulics. Filling capacity, shown on the nameplate, is 2.1 qt. -63- HOSE GUIDE ‘The hoses leading to the rotary power head are laid over the hose guide on their way tothe turning member and clamped there individually. As the "slide for rotary power head" moves forward, the hose guide is drawn forward with it (about haliway) by the hydraulic hoses. As the slide moves back, the hose guide is drawn back by a reversing cable, In laying the hydraulic hoses on the hose guide, or in replacing an hydraulic hose, care must be taken that all tubes are placed under equal tension. When the hose guide is in its rearmost position, the hoses should sag ca. 2 in between the tube guide and their clamping point on the turning member. If all hoses sag uniformly too far, they can be returned to proper tension by tightening the retracting cable (see photo for cable adjuster). Seilspanner cable adjuster ‘The remaining parts of the hose guide are maintenance-free. Model No. WORKING WITH HB 103 HYDRAULIC BORING HAMMER ‘The HB 108 boring hammer can be used for rotary boring, for ramming, and for rotary percussion boring. Rotary boring: When boring with rotary pereussion rods, the direction of rotation for boring is counter-clockwise. For counter~clockwise rotation the "Rotation I'' control lever is pushed down (lever snaps into place). In pure rotary boring it is possible to double the rotational speed by also shifting the "Rotation II" control lever (hammer jpump is also switched into the "Rotation" hydraulic circuit. Auger boring: One or two pumps can alternatively be switched into the "Rotation hydraulic circuit during auger boring as well. ‘When boring is to be performed with a right-hand auger, the H 55 drill shank must be removed and a shank with hexagonal cross section installed. Ramming: When ramming boring rods, care must be taken that the rods are screwed fully together, since only this ensures that the impact will be transmitted by the thread. ‘The percussion unit of the hammer is turned on by pushing down the "Hammer" control lever. -15= Oo ‘To prevent the rods from unscrewing, rotation can also be engaged during ramming. Caution; ‘The percussion mechanism in the hammer must be turned on only when rods are being subjected to feed pressure. During retraction the percussion mechanism should be turned off. Rotary percussion boring: Rot rotary peroussion boring the "Rotation I” control lever is shifted to "left turn" and the hammer simultaneously turned on. The instructions for hammer operation in the paragraph "Ramming" above must be heeded, "Rotation II” cannot be engaged during rotary percussion boring. General: ‘Attention must be paid to providing adequate flushing in all work with the HB 103 boring hammer except auger boring. Reference value for water flushing (for rod diameters up to 4.5 in): Pressure 10 to 25 bar Volume ca. 45 gal/min.
