Assignment 1: A review of an empirical study about language assessment


Your task has two parts:
1. Choose one study from the list provided below.
2. Write a review of that study see criteria below.
3. Use the Feedback Form (p.2 of this rubric) to give yourself feedback on how you completed
point 2 above (as if you were the tutor). You can complete Part Two reflecting on your own
work or you can choose to swap with a peer and give feedback to each other. You must
complete all sections of the Feedback Form.
The word limit for the review of an article is 250-350 words and the size of the feedback form for the
feedback. Please note that reviews outside this word limit will not be accepted.To pass this assignment, your
writing needs to pass the following:
1. The review must discuss the following:
a. the context of the study
b. the participants
c. the research questions
d. the methods and data collection procedures
e. the findings
f. the pedagogical implications of the findings
g. the implications for further research
h. the limitations of the study
2. All parts (A-H) of the Feedback Form must be completed.
3. Ensure that you write in an academic style, in English that is essentially free of errors.
4. Include clear referencing in the APA style.
The task should be word processed (font size 12, double spacing between lines, all margins 2.5cm) or
handwritten legibly (adhering to the same formatting guidance) and submitted in hard copy to the tutor.
Please proofread your work before submitting. The task must be submitted as a hard copy to the lecturer.
