Misertino is inconsistent in delivering bombastic statements toward fellow committee persons. Kocher
had disclosed that she had observed an Open Space meeting. Misertino having already been on his soap
box complaining that people should not assume authority where it doesnt exist, then publicly
reprimanded Kocher for an alleged illegal quorum. The attorney representing the Township stated that it
is not illegal, just that you need to concern yourself that your political enemies will make
unsubstantiated accusations. Misertino claims no one else here does that sort of thing yet curiously has
yet to reprimand Joe Watters for forming a quorum at a recent Land Use Board meeting after these
comments.
In 2015, Misertino, the liaison to Recreation, assumed authority where it didnt exist when he imposed a
punishment for an alleged code of conduct violation without giving the Recreation committee an
opportunity to do their job.
Township Committee received a complaint of the liaisons misconduct. Ultimately, the issue was
dismissed as a parenting issue and Mayor Clancy stated that it should never have come to Township
Committee.
Despite this determination, Desiree Mora-Dillon publicly stated that as a Recreation Commissioner she
disagreed with the decision and would have done the same thing despite the precedent set for handling
code of conduct violations.
The minutes and activities of the Recreation Committee remain unavailable on the township website cloaked in secrecy.
Sponsored Honeywell contract for Mechanical and Automated HVAC system maintenance.
Sponsored All Signs to be prohibited on public property.
o Because the State of NJ protects the freedom of speech for candidates, the ordinance could not
simply outlaw POLITICAL signs so it was an all or nothing approach.
o On May 25, 2016 Misertino was seen in court with Ted Tomaszewski, Joe Watters and others
after a failed attempt to create a law to protect a campaign supporter charged with theft of
campaign signs.
In 2014, the state of NJ created a law to allow municipalities to update their residential maintenance
code regarding vacant and abandoned residential properties in foreclosure by creditors.
This new law was presented in Public Portion by Scott Minter given his concern for maintaining
property values for all residential properties throughout the Township. Michael Misertino agreed and
chose to sponsor the ordinance that was passed unanimously but has failed to have any enforcement
actions implemented.
