Are you tired of searching for food when in agriculture you have everything at your

fingertips? Well first of all what is the definition of Agriculture, it is basically farming and
farming is the activity of growing crops and raising livestock and on the other hand there is
foraging and that is searching widely for food or the action of providing or supplying something
for use. Well doesnt that speak for itself. Farming was an improvement over over foraging
because they had civilized life, enough food and lead to greater collective learning .
Farming was an improvement over over foraging because they had civilized life.
According to Kevin Reilly's excerpt from the West and the world : A history of civilization states
civilized life gives the feelings of permanence. It offers regularly, stability, order, even routine
(Reilly text 13). This means that it gave a sense of protection and its so much better to stay
together in a stable population and environment then get mauled by a bear because you lost the
group when you went hunting.
Farming was an improvement over over foraging because they had plenty of food.
According to text 8 excerpt from Health and The Rise of Civilization states that populations
appear to enjoy several nutritional advantages over our affluent modern societies that protect
them from many of the diseases that now afflict us.These include high bulk diets, diets with
relatively few calories in proportion to other nutrients, diets low in total fat (and particularly low
in saturated fat), and diets high in potassium and low in sodium (Nathan text 8). This means that
they feed themselves with plenty of food while keeping themselves healthy and strong with the
right nutrients.
Farming was an improvement over over foraging because it lead to collective learning.
According to collective learning Part 2 by David Christian , David Christian states that When
agriculture appeared, history seemed to speed up. Five thousand years after the appearance of
agriculture, the number of humans had increased almost 10-fold, from just a few million to
almost 50 million. This rapid growth was made possible by an increase in the number of
innovations. Farmers spread into wooded and semi-arid zones, designed new types of buildings,

discovered ways to domesticate animals, pioneered new uses for clay and metals, and began to
develop simple forms of irrigation (Christian 7.0 Collective Learning part 2 ). This means that
as population grew so did social networks that lead to more discoveries and the upgrading of
their daily lives.
So what do you think has any of this changed your mind? Would you rather get mauled
by a bear or live your life secure and stable? Farming was an improvement over over foraging
because they had civilized life, enough food and lead to collective learning .So what do you
choose?
