Sicsican matanda Elementary School participated in the National School Deworming Day held at the school gymnasium on July 29, 2015 in partnership with the Department of Health and Department of Education. The event aimed to deworm 16 million children from kindergarten to 6th grade across all public schools nationwide to treat intestinal parasitic infections linked to cognitive impairment and malnutrition. Teachers ensured all students were present and advised parents to feed children before school as a precaution for taking the deworming medication. Health workers helped teachers distribute chewable tablets to students. The occasion was deemed very successful thanks to collaborative efforts between all parties.

National School Deworming Day of Department of Health in partnership with the Department of Education on July 29, 2015 held at School Gymnassium. The National Deworming Day, which targets to deworm 16 million school children from Kinder to Grade 6 in all public schools nationwide are project of DOH in partnership with DepEd to cure the high prevalence of children affected by intestinal parasitic infections which may lead to cognitive impairment and malnutrition, among other complications. The teacher makes sure that all their children were present in that day so that no one can be left behind, teacher talk to the parents of the pupils to advice that all they children need to have full stomach before entering to the school that will serve as a precautionary measures in taking deworming medicine. Teachers facilitate the distribution of chewable tablets to the pupils with the assistance of health personnel. At the end, the said occasion was very successful with the collaborative effort of everyone. Health and education, particularly for school-age children, are truly closely interrelated and effective learning cannot happen without the students being healthy.
