Carl Friedrich, the Age of Baroque 1610-1660

He sees them as Baroque ideas manifesting in different ways of life

"Baroque was a European way of feeling and thinking; of experiencing the world and
man, and creating works of art and letters in terms of that experience."
Baroque is man's experience with the world; Baroque art is just a reflection/visual, music
manifestation of that fundamental feeling and nature of society

Friedrich's view of the world might be too limited, and should perhaps be extended from
1590 to 1715, that Baroque is not just one view of the world but in fact at least two and
maybe even three different views of the world that succeed one after the other

France and Spain the competitors for power (moving chessmen around the board, who
dominated Europe), hence Richelieu and Olivares.
