CASE STUDY OF ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM FOR A

COMPANY
Introduction
8X1 Multiplexer and NAND Gates was constructed by using Altera Quartus II Web Edition
15.0 to obtain result of HIGH output which is 60%. That range is the essence of voting system of
electronic system for a company which hold by four major shareholders namely A, B, C and D. Their
shares reflect their total voting power in the company. In other words, shareholders which contribute
the most share gains the highest voting power. But the problem arises as such decision is hard to
execute accurately. Thus, to smoothen the process of voting, which one must make in executive
decision for the future company an electronic device for voting system is created comprising
Multiplexer 8X1 using NAND Gates. Range 60% which constitute 1 or High must be achieve to
form the output. Hence, the data collection can only be accurate if the process using the Altera
software is correctly done.
Multiplexer or mux is a device that select input and forward it to the output based on the
selector. This process is called input select code. A multiplexer of 2n inputs has n select lines, which
are used to select which input line to send to the output. In this case, 8X1 Mux was utilized. It has
eight input, three selector and one output. Let say we use function, F(A,B,C,D)=CMPNY, means that
we have 4 bit ranging from 0000 to 1111. Then to make it operate in 8X1 Mux, we used entered
variable method. The in depth detail was attached in results and discussion.
Besides that, some logic gates was utilized and implement in the design. The purpose was to
create assemble logic gates that would produce the desire voting system. Among the logic gates that
was utilized is the NAND Gates.
Flexibility is among the core in this system. The voter can cast a vote or withdraw their vote if
necessary. Besides that, the user can only change his vote thrice. This is the another core of this
system called congruency. In addition, this system is equipped with detection of personal which
means that the voters power is set based on their respective share in the company.
Finally, electronic voting system is a technology designed specifically to enhance voting
process. It is a way to reduce internal conflict that will make a company bleed and die. Besides that,
an executive decision can be carried away as soon as possible because of the system effectiveness.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

There are four major shareholders for a company namely A, B, C and D holds 40%, 30%,
20%, and 10% shares in the company respectively. It is important for them to agree on a decision to
make quick decision to take action swiftly. This work by having them agree with a decision with 60%
on them agree on a decision. A number of possibility may arise such as A and D might agree
meanwhile C and B might disagree. Thus it is imperative that we design an electronic voting system
to solve this problem.

OBJECTIVE(S)

1. Able to design an electronic voting system effectively and efficiently.

2. The design shall able to handle and minimise error.
3. Able to produce electronic voting system that is reliable and cost effective.
