Teacher starts with a question: What comes to your mind when I say new year and she
receives answers. Afterwards, she shows the New Year Popplet to get childrens attention.
She makes a presentation with the Popplet. At the end, she asks do you know anything about
this game by showing the tombola picture or have you ever this game? Then, teacher
explains that when I was a child, I played a game with my parents and grandparents on
Christmas. Teacher says that the name of the activity is tombola and we will play this
traditional game together. Before the activity, teacher prepares the play based on the 10
numbers which are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 and on the tombola cards; there are these
numbers in disorderly way. There are enough cards for children and teacher says that now, I
will give a tombola card to two of you. Therefore, you will be group with your friends next
to you. Then, teacher distributes the cards to children and she asks all groups that which
numbers do you have on your card? Therefore, all children say the numbers. Teacher asks all
children that is there anybody not to know the name of number which is on the car? If there
is a child, teacher introduces the number to this child. Then teacher takes the bag in which
there are numbers. Then, teacher says that now, we can start our game. I will take a number
from the bag and I will say this number to you. If you have this number on the card, you will
say that we will have the number and I will give the number and you will close the number
which are on the card with the number I will give you. Then, you will try to close all
numbers on the card because the group which closes all numbers first, the winner will be this
group and this group will say as tombola. Then, teacher starts to take one number from the
bag and after taking number, teacher asks children that what is this number? And in this way
children can internalize the numbers and all groups try to close all numbers on the card and
the activity is continuing in this way. When one group completes the numbers, the activity
finishes.

If the popplet does not work at that time for any reason, teacher takes a newspaper which
belongs to the new years eve and children cut the pictures from this newspaper and they
create their own classroom new year posters.

Teacher comes to the classroom with a big circle shape parcel paper and places it in the
middle of the classroom before childrens arriving. When children come teacher asks what it
might be. After getting kids attention with this teacher explains in an excited way. Kids we
have a huge mission today. We will go on a picnic to space and this is our space shutter. In
this moment, teacher asks Where do you want to go with this? Children will decide
somewhere in the space and teacher continues by saying Kids, you are astronauts today and
we will launch our space shuttle together. What should we do before we go to our space
shuttle, what do you think? Teacher takes the answers and writes it down as an anecdotal
note to use in the following process. Teacher tells all the things that the children said orderly

Lets wear our space suits in our personal space without touching any of your friends.

Lets move like there is no gravity in our general space in a fast/slow way.

Lets take a seat in our shuttle in and move in a low level.

Lets breathe in the oxygen deeply and exhale three times.

Then teacher continues to drama and make children pretend as if they are astronauts and they
are in their space shuttle which is launching right now. Teacher wants children to count back
from ten to one together by pointing the number cards. The rule is that as soon as they are
finished, they jump as high as they can. Ten. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three.
Two. One. Jump as high as you can! Then, teacher shows the video and says that they will
count backwards with the help of this video. This game will be played as much as all
children counts back correctly without teachers support. OK Kids, we are finally in the
space. Lets take a walk here. Children look around and state what they see there. Finally,
they go back to their classroom by counting back with the same video.
Individual Learning Activities

For individual learning, teacher provide a

parent involvement activity. Parents are asked


to use elevator with their child. They will go
up to the 10th floor and down to the 1. Parent
will show the signs of numerals and ask their
children to say it out loud.

Summary
This lesson is math integrated drama activity. Children take the role of astronauts and count
back when their space shuttle is launching with the help of counting back video of numerals.

activity can be made.

Parent involvement activity as an assessment is hard to evaluated by teacher due to the fact
that not all families conduct the activity or let the teacher know the details of the activity.
Therefore, teacher can want to take photos of activities from the teacher in the simple notes
which are sent to parents.

If the prezi does not work appropriately, teacher can show the pictures of space shuttle to
teach children the details about what is space shuttle, who is the astronaut? Similarly, if the
stupeflix does not work, the teacher prepares number cards from one to ten to count
backwards for children while throwing the space shuttle.

Playing a game, movement, documentation, reinforcement, scaffolding, task analysis, recalling and asking
questions are used as teaching methods by teacher.

Teacher comes to class with different colors of paper and some paper which consist of numbers from 1 to
12. One paper includes one number. Teacher shows a clock and starts to activity by talking about clocks.
Teacher helps children by asking questions such as what do you see on clocks, what are the parts of the
clocks. They talk about parts of clocks, functions of clock and which number clock includes. After they
recall these information, teacher says that today we will form our clock by using our bodies. Actually, we
will be a clock. Teacher gives children papers with numbers. These children will be a number in the clock.
They will form their clock. One of the children will be an hour hand. Children who have not numbers and is
not hour hand will be a group. They will decide what time is it. One of them will be midwife. This child
closes his/her eyes. One of them says that my watch is wrong, what time is it to the group of children. Then,
the group will decide what time it is. After that, they will say the time quietly. Then, children change
his/her watch by changing the position of his or her friend who is hour hand. Then, midwife will open

his/her eyes and will try to say what time it is. Then, midwife and hour hand will change, the last hour hand
pass the other child position. The game will be continued until each child is midwife. During the game
childrens photos are taken and teachers record videos to document at the end of the activity.
