U27 LO1: Issues relating to your documentary

Documentary on Dangers of Social Media, following the modern landscape of

social media and how influential it can be used.
A. Opinions and bias
Opinion: a thought or belief about something or someone.
Cambridge Dictionaries Online (2014) Opinion meaning in the Cambridge English
dictionary. Available at: http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/opinion
(Accessed: 3 May 2016).
Bias: the action of supporting or opposing a particular person or
thing in an unfair way, because of allowing personal opinions to
influence your judgment.
Cambridge Dictionaries Online (2016) Bias meaning in the Cambridge English
dictionary. Available at: http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/bias
(Accessed: 3 May 2016).
My opinion is that cyber-bullying is a very serious problem that may/does
conflict with certain opinions I have seen; Cyber bullying isnt a thing,
Just unplug the computer. This isnt the case since when people
cyberbully, the abuse can be taken into real life. My goal is to try and
spotlight that this isnt the case and that most of those opinions can be
easily mistaken for what really happens and that its not just an opinion.
B. Accuracy
Accuracy: the condition or quality of being true, correct, or
exact; freedom from error or defect; precision or exactness;
correctness.
Dictionary (no date) The definition of accuracy. Available at:
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/accuracy (Accessed: 3 May 2016).
Gathering primary information through interviews and focus groups will
give me reliable and replicate information that I can use to back up my
points. This will cover certain regulations that I will need to withhold
throughout the documentary.
C. Balance and Impartiality
Balance: A situation in which different elements are equal or in
the correct proportions.
Oxford (2016) Balance, in Oxford Dictionary. Available at:
http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/balance (Accessed: 3 May 2016).
Impartiality: not partial or biased; fair; just.
Dictionary (no date) The definition of impartiality. Available at:
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/impartiality (Accessed: 3 May 2016).

I have planned to show how good social media is and how it shouldnt be
banned but show the problems it has created and what should be stopped.
This will give balance since the intentions of my documentary is to
spotlight problems and give exposure to these, so that hopefully these can
be resolved or at least improved.
D. Objectivity and Subjectivity
Objectivity: the ability to make decisions based on facts rather
than on your own personal feelings or beliefs.
2016 (2009) Objectivity definition and synonyms. Available at:
http://www.macmillandictionary.com/dictionary/british/objectivity (Accessed: 3 May
2016).
Subjectivity: based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes,
or opinions.
Oxford (2016) Subjective, in Oxford Dictionary. Available at:
http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/subjective (Accessed: 3 May
2016).
I will be very subjective with the problems since they are unethical, but I
will be objective on my opinions for social media as a whole
E. Representation
Representation: The description or portrayal of someone or
something in a particular way.
Oxford (2016) Representation, in Oxford Dictionary. Available at:
http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/representation (Accessed: 3 May

with, or use; admittance.

be let alone.

concerning employment, sales, or tenancy, that is intended to be
enforceable by law.
