About NIRDESH
NIRDESH National Institute for R&D in Defence Shipbuilding, is an autonomous society of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Headquartered in Calicut, the institute
functions under the Chairmanship of the Honble Raksha Mantri as its Chairman, and Secretary Defence Production as its Vice Chairman. The Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard,
DRDO and Defence Public Sector Shipyards are member organizations of NIRDESH.
NIRDESH is committed to provide state of the art technology, design, R&D, knowledge and knowhow to its member organizations. Programs are organized by NIRDESH, to keep
abreast with the latest technologies related to shipbuilding and maritime operations.
About the Seminar
Mission requirement is the driver for design & construction of warships and submarines. Technological advances related to stealth, power and weapon package are needed with
least build period. Bringing about changes in the approach to ship design & construction are essential for improving productivity. Process changes and design tools that could
reduce time and cost to design and construct naval ships are the need of the shipbuilding industry, along with technology improvements for higher efficiency and better
performance. The seminar aims to discuss available technology and futuristic R&D in ship design and production. It will also evaluate possible collaborations to adopt cutting edge
technology in ship building.

Invitation/ Participation
Navies, Coast Guard, Shipbuilders, Design Houses, R&D organizations, Industries and Academia from India and overseas are invited to the seminar. Technical papers are invited
in the on the theme of Advances and R&D in Shipbuilding, covering the topical areas of ship design, ship construction, equipment, process, materials and class approvals. Abstracts
may be forwarded by 31 Dec 2015 to nirdeshdel@gmail.com. Full length papers of shortlisted abstracts are required by 31 Jan 2016. Papers shortlisted for presentation will be
intimated progressively.
Registrations: There is no participation fee applicable. Registrations will be on first come basis, limited to two participants per organization. Participants will have to make their
