Time Navigation of Kew Gardens

Time navigation of Kew Gardens

I wanted like to enhance the visitor experience by
changing the navigation time from morning to night
through demonstrating different scenes of Kew to
my audience. Through this project, I was trying to
achieve the goal of making an impressive visual of
night scene of Kew with artificial light effects aimed
to enhance visitor experience: When they visit at
day time, they would also have a chance to see
the night scene and have a contrastive, explorative
sensation. This project is grounded in alterable visual
experience and relying on experimental creation,
aim to show various aspects of Kew Gardens and I
experimented of Kew in 2D and 3D aspect and try to
demonstrate the different spacial navigation.

I discovered that the scene of Kew is different between day time

and night time then I did this experiment, set the glowing effect
plants and others elements in the same conditions only change
the brightness to reveal the day and night conditions.

Physical letter-Moss K

We are asked to bring an physical letter

to the workshop of moving-images and
we used the physical letter to create
an short animation. My letter K made of
moss and glue, in the animation, I drew
triangle to form the letter K as a outline
and a moss object which I put three
moss K together and it looked like a
coral grew up from the main letter and
I drew the meshed lines let it grew on
the coral object and made an effect
of colour change.

I used mirror effect to make the word

typography and I was trying to make
the word looked like a pattern and I
changed the reflective centre to make
movement, in this short animation,
we can see the pattern change in a
slow move with a vertical orientation
at beginning and the pace increased
by the time and in the end, I tried to
make the movement like a sound

The narrative story in this animation is a pattern becomes the word typography, at beginning, the
film show moving images of the pattern and then I revert the process of how I made the pattern
and the end pop up a clear typography word. There are two sort of typeface, one is digital word
I make by illustrator and the other one is I use the clone stamp tool to clone the moss K image in a
hand writing way. I also made the sounds for this video, through this process, I found some
interesting things at making sounds to match the animation.

Experiment of contour line

I used the tracing paper and overlapped on the map to draw the contour line by using
different size of pencil and pen,the most like of my three experiments is the pencil one, in my
thought, I think the thinnest line can occur the best effect.when the lines went very closed to
each other, I can feel delicate detail and movement between the loose
and the close part.

after I done the experiment of the contour line then I did the experiment
of the word take something apart, I used the same map image and
remove some lines from the contour line map, I drew them one by one
therefore the outcomes changed a little bit at each times and I tried to
make the figure looked like a mirror effect but when you look at them
carefully they are not.

Triangular Structure

There are four section in secret envelope project

but I only put the contour line section into portfolio,
on the previous two pages is the work that I make
a poster by used the elements from each section, I
would like to create obsessive atmosphere of
surrealism which I am interested meanwhile I put an
aphorism of Dali as a emphasis.

My idea is using cupcakes with colourful frosting to

represent the colour theory and make action effects
for each part and I also add a story which tell these
cupcakes living in a black and white world, one day,
a colour wheel suddenly appear on the sky then
their world starts changed, every cupcakes are very
happy they get colours on their looking and then
they have a festival to celebrate their colour
colourful world, to this short video. Through this
project, I gave myself another assignment aim to
engage with After Effect, I am a beginner for
learning it, for me I found that I am more interested
at making videos.
