Prof. Michael Anthony C. Vasco, Ph.D.

Dean
Faculty of Arts and Letters
University of Santo Tomas
Dear Prof. Vasco:
I would to express my intent into shifting my degree program from Bachelor of Arts in
Political Science to Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts at our Faculty.
I have always dreamed of studying at the University of Santo Tomas, especially in the
Faculty of Arts and Letters that houses the Communication Arts degree program. I managed to
pass the USTET and the degree program that I wanted. However, my parents initially did not
approve of my choice of university, because we are not Catholics and studying at the Royal and
Pontifical University might cause some problems. This led to the failure to pay the reservation
fee and the forfeiture of my slot as a student in Communication Arts.
But I still want to study at this famed University, so after talking my parents into it and
making them understand my decisions, they finally agreed to let me study here. I passed a
reconsideration letter to study at the faculty, but this time to AB Political Science, because the
slots for Communication Arts has already been filled out. During my stay at Political Science I
have learned a lot in the field of political science. I have met friends which I know will last
throughout my life. But still, deep in my heart, I know that I want to study Communication Arts.
Studying Political Science can also cause problems, because being a member of Jehovah's
Witness' we are to abstain from politics. I really pushed myself and my parents into studying here
at the Royal and Pontifical University because of their excellent Communication Arts program.
This is a decision I made with the guidance and support of my parents and we believe
that it will be for my best interest to pursue the degree program which I truly love and provides
me with the career path that I will know can help me develop as a person holistically.
Hoping for your kind consideration,

Camille Nicole Lingad
