Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
Greetings of Peace,
In the Gospel today, Jesus talks about forgiveness. The topic of forgiveness carries a special
place here at St. Anthony Shrine because so many of our visitors have a uniquely positive
experience in the sacrament of reconciliation. Im grateful to work with many expert confessorpriests who have such wisdom about our life of faith together.
My typical workday is one where I jump around from one topic to another completely unrelated
one. Its interesting work, thank God! One aspect of the Shrine which never requires my
supervision or intervention is the Sacristy. Im so grateful to Br. Tom Donovan, OFM who very
capably organizes and supervises the work there. Im also grateful to the other sacristans: Jerry
Battista, Ray Niro and Cordelia Pinckney. They all do a great job of taking care of the hundreds
of details that are an integral part of the sacred work of the sacristy of this church. Thank you,
Br. Tom, Ray, Jerry, and Cordelia!

On June 18, 2015, the Vatican issued

Laudato Si, an encyclical proclaiming that the

poor are the most harmed by the
environmental destruction and climate change.
During the week of June 12-19, we will
celebrate the first anniversary of this
encyclical. The core of Pope Francis message
is focused on how we relate to one another,

especially the poor and how we relate to the

environment. He claims that these are
intimately connected and he urges us to do
what we can to support and protect our
Common Home. The whole world is currently
finding unique and creative ways to respond to
Francis challenges. For more information on
the encyclical google US Catholic Conference

Local Catholic Sisters representing congregations in the

Greater Boston area will be at St. Anthonys Shrine during
our Vigil Masses on Saturday, June 11th. They are here to
raise awareness of the evils of Human Trafficking on behalf
of the Anti-Trafficking Coalition [ATC] of the Boston Unit of
the Leadership Conference of Women Religious [LCWR].
We are proud to have these women and their associates
with us today. Please spend a few moments with them
before and after the Saturday Vigil Masses to find out how
you can help end this form of modern-day slavery.
