Learn the Fishing Formula for Success! Participate in both sessions & the outdoor Casting stations for a complete lesson in sport fishing! (Start times for each session listed below.)
10:30AM & 12:30PM Fish Detectives, tips on how to identify your fish! Meeting Rm.
11:30AM Angler 101, basic how to catch a fish lesson! Meeting Room

The Great Tobico Minnow Race (Finals at 1:30PM)

Earn a free Fishing for Fun T-Shirt, by participating in 6 festival activities!


Register for your Jr. Ranger card in the tent canopy in front of the Visitor Center.
Each time you participate in an activity ask for a punch. Sorry, only one punch for crafts.
Cant finish your card today? You can apply punches earned today towards a Fishing
Patch. Bring it to any of our summer Tuesday night Fishing in the Park programs and get
a punch. After the festival 6 punches earns you a free Jr. Ranger Fishing patch!

Choose your favorite minnow for a race down the gutter lanes to the finish line! Lagoon Trail

Name That Fish Contest Practice and test your skill at fish ID. Lagoon Trail.

9AM-2:00PM Saginaw Bay Walleye Club Fishing Derby

Big Mouth Bass Contest For Children 6 & under. Contest for those who just

Borrow a pole for free, at the Tobico Lagoon Dock. Free Worms too!
Kids register the length of each fish you catch and you may win a trophy for the largest
Bass, Sunfish, Perch, Catfish, Pike, Dog Fish, Carp or Walleye !
We will also add up the total length of all the fish you catch for a special award.
There will be one trophy for the largest fish caught by an Adult (17 & older).
Fish must be registered by 1:30pm.

Awards Ceremony is at 2PM. You must be present to win raffle!


Each child who tries out fishing will receive a fish sticker at the fish registration table.
The sticker must be worn until they claim their raffle ticket at the stage starting 1:45-2pm.
100 fishing poles will be raffled off to youth.
The Awards Ceremony will be held on the outdoor stage if weather permits.
If not, it will be held in the auditorium.

9AM-1:30PM Franks Great Outdoors Kids Kasting Contest


Once youve attended the Flip-Pitch & Cast Trials you are ready to compete!
Enter the Kids Kasting Contest in front of the outdoor stage. Must enter this contest by
1:30pm to be eligible for the trophies and prizes.
Age categories: 7-10 Girls, 7-10 Boys, 11-14 Girls, 11-14 Boys, 15 & up Mens, 15 & up
Womens.

Official Kast Off at 1:30PM for the best scores of the day! Dont
miss it! Must be present to win!

Kids Kasting Trials


Do you know how to flip, pitch and overhand cast a lure to that special spot where the
fish find shelter? Casting instructors will offer instruction on how to improve your use
spinning rods and reels. Great way to practice before entering the casting contest.

Fish Craft! Whimsical and useful crafts inspired by the fish! Make a fishing hat,
fish fly pin, fish mobile, fish lanyard, fishing banner & more!
