Dear Child
We are having a nice faul (sic) so far. No killing frost. Wheat all sown and up some. Rain last nightcloudy today. Looks like it could rain again. Laurence and Ellen are going to School. They are getting
along real well. Thank you for the picture. I show it to my friends and tell them that is the kind of
company that I kept when I was away. I send my respects to all friends and wish them well.
We have been looking for you folks to make us a visit. Wish you could come. I was not very well the fore
part of Oct but am as well as usual now. The rest of the folks are as well as usual. Hope this will find all
well with you. Do you hear from the folks in Ill. occasionly (sic). We do not. They dont write to us very
often and we dont to them. Please write soon and come and make us a visit.
Love to all, From Daddy Orville Frost
Note: Orville exhibits a rather droll sense of humor in this letter, shows affection for his daughter, and
demonstrates his gentlemanly manners.
