CourseDescription
InWORLDHISTORYandGEOGRAPHY,studentswillstudythecourseofhumanhistoryfrom
prehistorictimesonuptothemodernera.InthefirstpartofWorldHistory,thegeographic,
political,economic,andculturalcharacteristicsofearlycivilizationswhichinfluencedthe
developmentoflatercivilizationswillbehighlighted.ThecontributionsoftheGreeksand
Romanswillbestudiedaswellastheuniquenessofcivilizationsinotherregions.Thefirstpart
ofthecoursewillalsocoverthefallofRome,theMiddleAges,theRenaissance,the
Reformation,theAgeofEnlightenment,Exploration,andRevolution.ThesecondpartofWorld
HistorywillfocusoneventsfromtheFrenchRevolutiontothemodernera.Eventssuchasthe
IndustrialRevolution,theRiseofNationalism,Imperialism,andColonialism,WarandthePost
WorldWarIIworldwillbestudiedatlength.Thecausesandconsequencesofthegreat
political,military,andculturaleventsofthepastcenturywillhelpstudentsunderstandtherise
ofnationalismandtheconstantpoliticalandmilitaryconflictswhichhaveoccurredinmany
partsoftheworld.
