The Obituary

John A. Ross was born to the union of Sheppard Ross and

Ever Lee Ross on August 21, 1938. He was the third child
of eight siblings. Two siblings preceded him in death,
Sheppard Ross and James Ross.

John accepted Christ at an early age. On January 1, 1978,

John joined New Hope Baptist Church under the pastorate
of Dr. John H. Flinn, where he served as a Trustee. In
1999, he served as Treasurer of The Greater New Hope
Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor
Donald E. Jones Sr. Throughout his years at Greater New
Hope Missionary Baptist Church, John served in Kingdom
building in many areas of the church. As a spirit-led man,
John walked by faith, not by sight in his role as treasurer,
and a steward of GODs work . Prayer played a significant
role in Johns life in building the Kingdom of GOD.

He was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System

and was employed with the City of Cincinnati,
Metropolitan Sewer District for thirty years. He retired as
a Supervisor on February 1, 1993.

In his early years of life, John enjoyed music. He was a

songwriter and created beautiful music with a few musical
groups. He had many interests, such as bowling, reading,
studying GODs word, Master Chef of Grilling, spending
time with family, gardening and traveling.

soulmates and was united in holy matrimony in 1961. To
this union, three children were born: Judy Everlee Ross,
Darryl Anthony Ross and John Dante Ross.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted

wife, Geneva L. Ross; one daughter, Judy E. Ross; two
sons, Darryl A. Ross (Dana), and John D. Ross (Patricia)
all from Cincinnati Ohio: five grandchildren, Cedric
Dugger, Amilya Wilson, Jordan Ross, Sean Ross, and
Imani Ross and eight great grandchildren; Jade Dugger,
Jordan Dugger, Trinitee Dukes, Nyla Wilson, Destiny
McKinnon, Treyvon Dukes, Jimmie Holton, and Skylar
Dugger; two brothers, Glen Ross (Jackie), and William
Ross; three sisters, Barbara Jelks , Donzella Saleem, and
Patricia Sims; six sister-in-laws, Creola Hillman, Katie
Williams (Thomas), Elizabeth Simon (Frank), Jessie
Morgan (Houston), Lurinda Clay and a host of nieces,
nephews and friends and a loved spiritual daughter,
Cassandra Whittaker.

Tribute to the Best Dad in the World

Dad believed prayer is one of the best gifts we can

receive. As a tribute to dad, our gift to family and
friends, on behalf of dad, is a small poem we hope
will help you to begin to find a new way to deal with
those rough days along the way.
A.S.A.P. (Ever wonder about the abbreviation?)

Theres work to do, deadlines to meet; youve got no

time to spare, But as you hurry and scurry ASAP- ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER.

In the midst of family chaos, Quality time is rare.

Do your best; let GOD do the rest ASAP - ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER.

It may seem like your worries are more than you

can bear. Slow down and take a breather ASAP - ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER.

God knows how stressful life is; He wants to ease

our cares, And Hell respond to all your needs ASAP - ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER.

On behalf of dad, we leave friends and family

are more effective than 911 that granddad
shared with us. If
You are alone and scared,
phone Psalm 23
You feel like an outcast,
phone Romans 8:31-39

It feels as if the world is bigger than GOD,

phone Psalm 90
You are seeking peace,
phone Matthew 11:25-30

Pauls secret for happiness,

phone Colossians 3:12-17
